Samini Hints At Venturing Into Politics

Samini born Emmanuel Andrews Sammini has finally come out to congratulate the President-elect of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Ghanaian Reggae and Dance hall recording artiste, Samini

It seems the new wave for entertainment industry players is to now venture into politics as Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall crooner, Samini has revealed his intentions to ply that route in the near future.

Speaking in an interview, Samini who hinted at embarking on a political career, revealed that he will stand as MP “when the time is right” for him.

“A lot of people have asked me to become a politician. I will venture into politics in the near future when the opportunity comes or when I feel it is right”.

Samini

Even though Samini never made mention of any specific constituency he will be standing for, it has been widely suggested that he will stand in either one of the constituencies in Wa or Accra.

Contrary to Samini’s current disclosure, it can be recalled that the ‘Linda’ hitmaker debunked claims of aspiring for political office after the 2020 General Elections saw a flyer go viral with his image indicating him contesting for a member of parliament in the next parliamentary elections.

In a post he made on his Instagram page, Samini noted that he had not made any declaration or intention to contest as MP on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He was reportedly aspiring as a member of parliament for the Wa Central constituency but the musician came out publicly to deny these claims.

“It has come to my notice that some unscrupulous people are drawing my name into needless political debates. Please be informed that I have neither made any comments regarding my disappointment or otherwise of a political position nor declared my intent to run for office anywhere. NO ONE has promised me any political role and I am not anticipating any call up whatsoever to that effect”.

Samini also advised that as much as it is in everyone’s interest to serve the nation should the opportunity arise, people should “condemn needless and childish political gimmicks” that pitch one tribe against the other.  According to him, it is sentiments like these that ignited the Rwanda genocide and he strongly condemns it.

Samini then stated that should he ever consider running for office, he will make it known via official public statements.

In the same vein, Samini has explained his reasons for throwing his weights behind the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). He explained that he campaigned for Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo Addo and his NPP government because of their good policies.

According to Samini, he felt that the party’s policies, promises, and potentiality could solve most of the problems rural areas in Ghana are facing, especially his hometown, Wa, hence he had every right to throw his weight behind them just to see such promises and policies manifest.

Samini emphasized the fact that his decision to campaign for the NPP during the 2020 General election was not for his personal gains but for the greater good of his people and Ghana as a whole.

Samini also jumped to the defense of the NPP following attacks launched by the opposition and some school of thoughts on social media that opines that the country’s growth has been retarded. Defending the current government, Samini posited that no government has been able to fulfill all the promises they made to Ghanaians, hence the attacks launched on the NPP should cease.
