The Agrihouse Foundation is set to host the second edition of the ‘Ghana Chicken Festival’ (GHACHICK) on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Coconut Grove Hotel, Accra.

In a press statement ahead of this year’s event, Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa Sarpong, has noted that the upcoming edition would be an improvement on the maiden event, which brought together over Fifty (50) Households to relax and network; and in the process, gained access to poultry farmers and agric companies who have currently become their suppliers of poultry products.

The full-day event is designed to promote the consumption and patronage of local poultry products and also helps to create sustainable awareness of the nutritional value of poultry products amongst Ghanaians.

The ultimate goal of this initiative is to encourage the purchase and consumption of local poultry by Ghanaians; create a platform for households, and stakeholders and also inform them about the maiden event, which brought together over Fifty (50) Households to relax and network; and in the process, gained access to poultry farmers and agric companies which have currently become the suppliers of poultry products.

GHACHICK also aims to bring together families in a recreational atmosphere to taste locally bred chicken and other related poultry products.

Last year’s maiden edition drew attention to numerous opportunities within the poultry industry, with twenty (20) business executives and media influencers serving as advocates of the poultry farmers by calling on Ghanaian consumers, restaurant owners, hotels, local food vendors, households, and individuals to patronize and consume locally bred fowls.

The CEO and influencers participated in the highly publicized and anticipated “Chef Competition,” which challenged them to step out of their comfort zones to showcase their culinary skills, aside from usually not being in the spotlight, thus adding more spice to them the fun format of the event.

Last year’s event further opened up markets for Poultry farmers, processors, and actors in related poultry fields, through a highly successful media advocacy drive on radio, television, print, and online mediums. She said this edition is bringing onboard stakeholders and individuals from the poultry value chain and corporate worlds to continue promoting and advocating the importance of the consumption of local poultry.

This year, the “CEO Chef competition” will again be a highlighting aspect of the event and will see Heads of Corporate entities compete for bragging rights to the accolade of best CEO-Chef.

Games like Draughts, Oware, Scrabble, Ludo, and Monopoly have been embedded into the event programme to cater to families’ fun needs. Similarly, side attractions like cotton candy, face painting, and bouncy castles will seek to engage children at the event.
