The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr has said that the President’s trip to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region for a four-day tour was ill-advised.

He stated that it does not take much to have known that the trip to Kumasi and the Ashanti Region as a whole by Nana Addo was going to be problematic as there were clear signs early on from the residents of the Region.

“I think that the President’s trip to Kumasi was completely ill-advised and am wondering what kind of people are around the President. Whether indeed, the people around the President seeks interest and the interest of government”

Kwesi Pratt Jnr

Speaking on the Good Morning Ghana show last Wednesday October 19, 2022, Mr. Pratt indicated that it was obvious the trip by the President could have been delayed in order for serious work to be done as there were signs of agitations in the streets as well as anger of the residents being expressed on various media platforms.

The Managing Editor stated that Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B, who is the Organizer of the New Patriotic Party foresaw problems the trip could bring and tried solving it by launching attacks on the Ghana Revenue Authority for creating dissatisfactory for the President especially in Kumasi.

“One of the National Executive Member of the NPP was smart enough to see it, I mean Nana Boakye, he saw it clearly and started blaming GRA for creating dissatisfactory for the President especially in the Ashanti Region and distancing the government from the actions of GRA.

“But as to whether or not what he did was sufficient to calm the people, the visit itself has proven that it wasn’t sufficient.”

Kwesi Pratt Jnr

He added that the crowd hooting at the President in Kumasi is significant especially to all analysts, more importantly as it happened in one of the holds of the government.

President’s Responds To Residents Of Kwabre East

Mr Pratt mentioned that the response given by the President in a recent interview on the second day of his tour is an unfortunate development.

“His attention was drawn to the recent threats by the people, and he said that nobody can blackmail him to do what they want. This is something else, it’s an unfortunate development”

Kwesi Pratt Jnr

He stated that Presidents, are required to do what the people want and for the President to say that He didn’t care about the voting out of his party is problematic.

He further added that the President is blocking the chances of the Vice President, Mahamadu Bawumiah and Mr Alan Kojo Kyeremanteng who are both aiming to become the leader of the NPP as well as President of the country.

“It looks like he has gotten what he wants so he doesn’t care about the other. I’m wondering how the Vice President and Mr. Alan Kyeremanteng would feel after hearing this”

Kwesi Pratt Jnr

He expressed disappointment in the President emphasizing that he could have done much better with his response.
