Presidential Staffer, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has revealed that it is out there that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) manipulates the selection of players.

According to him, the association must be questioned on the performance of the Black Stars match against Uruguay. He indicated that the poor performance on the team must be holistically interrogated.

“It is out there that the GFA manipulates the selection of players. If that is the case, are we saying that there are some qualified players but due to the GFA manipulation they were not called? They should come and explain.”

Mr Aboagye noted that the technical team of the Black Stars must also not be left off the hook. He noted that they must “come and tell us whether it is true that in the calling of the players there is favoritism.”

Performance of Black Stars at World Cup

Commenting on the performance of Black Stars Captain, Dede Ayew, Mr Mohammed requested Ghanaians to stop vilifying him for missing the penalty in the game against Uruguay in the World Cup.

He stated that Ghanaians are being unfair to him because he gave his all to the Black Stars.

“Ghanaians have been unfair to Dede, this gentleman has been working, there is no player in the Black Stars who has killed himself for the Black Stars than Dede. They hated his father, and they are doing that to his son.”

Murtala Mohammed

The Tamale North MP emphasized that Dede Ayew has dedicated himself to the Black Stars and ought to be treated fairly.

“Tell me which Black Stars player has sacrificed himself for the team more than Dede. I am not just defending Dede, I will defend anyone at any time, I defended Asamoah Gyan.”

Murtala Mohammed

Mr Murtala equally expressed his disappointment in the decision of the Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, to resign his position after the team exited. He noted that for the new coach to be appointed, he should work with the already existing technical team members who are familiar with the players and build them for future tournaments.

“I was against the intention of the coach who said he was going to step down after the World Cup.”

Murtala Mohammed

It will be recalled that Otto Addo resigned as Ghana coach following the Black Stars’ 2022 World Cup exit on Friday, December 2, 2022. He will concentrate on his role as a trainer scout at German club Borussia Dortmund.
