CalBank Recognized As The Most Indigenous Bank By Brand Africa 100

Philip Owiredu, The Manager Director of CalBank Plc

CalBank Plc has been celebrated as the most admired indigenous bank, and the 8th most admired Ghanaian brand by Brand Africa 100.

During the 16th Advertisers Association of Ghana (AAG) Gong Gong Awards held in Accra, CalBank Plc was honored as the most indigenous bank after a survey which was conducted between March and April 2022, and yielded over 80,000 brand mentions with over 3,500 unique brands across the continent.

The survey was conducted by the world’s leading mobile-based research firm, Geopoll, with insights provided by the world’s largest information research firm, Kantar, working in close collaboration with Africa’s premier branding, strategic communications and intellectual property advisory firm, Brand Leadership.

Thebe Ikalafeng, Founder and Chairman of Brand Africa speaking at the ceremony disclosed that, Ghana has some excellent brands that will do well beyond its borders. As the base of AfCFTA which seeks to drive intra-Africa trade, it puts Ghana in a good position to lead the continent and showcase the potential of multi-national African brands that can transform the continent, she said.

Ghanaian Brands Have Great Potentials

According to Mrs. Francis Dadzie, the Executive Director of the Advertising Association of Ghana, she described how amazing it was to see a proudly Ghanaian brand in the Top 100 and shows the potential that Ghanaian brands have to be recognized and have appeal beyond its borders.

Bernard Okasi, Director of Research – GeoPoll, which has been the lead data collection partner since 2015 mentioned how supportive the mobile-based research firm has been in the conduct of the research.

“With an increased number of countries and greater sample size this year, more than ever and especially so during the pandemic, mobile proved to be the most effective tool for us to reach and access respondents across the continent.”

Karin Du Chenne, Chief Growth Officer Africa Middle East for Kantar, which has been the insight lead for Brand Africa since inception in 2010 revealed that, despite the volumes of brands analyzed as a result of increased sample size in terms of respondents and countries, the survey continues to yield a very consistent picture of brands and trends that are transforming the continent.

Philip Owiredu, the manager director of CalBank Plc expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders, management and staff of the bank for the recognition honored to the bank.

“We are excited to have been acknowledged on such a platform. This feat certainly is a celebration for all, as it couldn’t have been possible without your input and contribution as we worked endlessly to ensure the brand is positioned in the minds of Ghanaians. We trust we can continue to count on you in 2023 as we intensify our brand building and management.”
