BOPP Releases Its Abridged Report, Makes Significant Gains

Benso Oil Palm Plantation Limited (BOPP) listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange under the Agricultural sector has released it’s 2022 abridged results with outstanding performance across all segments.

The total indicative share trading liquidity for Benso Oil Palm Plantation Limited (BOPP.gh) in the past 12 months is US$177.04K (GHS1.8M). An average of US$14.75K (GHS149.61K) per month.

In the past accounting year, BOPP recorded a gross profit of GH¢180,457,000 in 2022 as against GH¢114,994,000 recorded in the previous year, 2021. Meanwhile, the net gains from changes in fair value of biological assets for the year under review stood at GHS161 million as against GHS101 million recorded in 2021.

Non-Current Assets of BOPP grew from GHS84 million in 2021 to GHS126 million in 2022. In addition, the current assets which includes inventories, trade & other receivables Amount due from related parties, cash and bank balances, also grew to GHS139,104,000 in 2022 from GHS126,250,000 recorded in 2021.

Despite the hurdles that many companies faced, BOPP experienced significant growth in performance on account of increased commodity prices of its products and forex gains from the depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi in spite of the combined effect of the general decline in fresh fruit bunches experienced across the region and the replanting of some older palms.

With the systems of controls and risk management in place, the board and management continue to build resilience to navigate through the economic downturn to ensure business continuity and sustainability.

The Best Performer on Ghana Stock Exchange

The company’s sterling performance has reflected in its performance on the local bourse. BOPP closed its trading day (Thursday, February 23, 2023) at 9.65 GHS per share on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE).

Benso Oil Palm Plantation began the year with a share price of GHS7.65 and has since gained 26.1% on that price valuation, ranking it first on the GSE in terms of year-to-date performance. Shareholders can be optimistic about BOPP knowing the stock has accrued 21 per cent over the past four-week period alone — best on GSE.

Benso Oil Palm Plantation is the 13th most traded stock on the Ghana Stock Exchange over the past three months (Nov 22, 2022 – Feb 23, 2023). BOPP has traded a total volume of 36,774 shares valued at GHS 291,766 over the period, with an average of 584 traded shares per session. A volume high of 8,427 was achieved on December 1, 2022 for the same period.

Benso Oil Palm Plantation Limited is currently the 18th most valuable stock on the GSE with a market capitalization of GHS 336 million, which is about 0.521% of the Ghana Stock Exchange equity market.

Benso Oil Palm Plantation Limited is an oil palm plantation company in Ghana involved in growing and processing crude palm oil to produce oil products for domestic consumption. The company is based at the Adum Banso Estate in Takoradi, Ghana. It owns over 5 000 hectares of oil palm plantations and processes crude palm oil to produce oil products for domestic consumption. Brands include RBD Palm Oil and RBD Palm Olein.

BOPP produces oil products for the Ghana market and for export to regions in West Africa. The company is also involved in refining fats and oils and owns the patent for technology that converts wasted food into nutritious food. BOPP is a subsidiary of Wilmar International Limited and Unilever Ghana has a stake in its business.
