I Won’t Allow It, The Moment You Attack My Label – Kaywa

The founder of Highly Spiritual Music, Kaywa

Renowned sound engineer, music producer, and founder of Highly Spiritual Music, born David Kojo Kyei, popularly known as Kaywa, has revealed that he won’t allow it the moment people attack his label.

Also, he said it was necessary to voice out the secret behind Lasmid’s departure due to reactions from Lasmid’s fan base trying to tarnish the reputation of his record label.

“Usually, because the artistes are the ones in front, they turn to have a fan base who do not understand how the artiste was built, whatever happened to him, and the team behind them. So, I had to put the information out so that everybody could talk. Anything that will destroy the label, I’ll put it out because the label is like a bedrock where a lot of stars and talents will emanate from. You can attack me, and I won’t talk, but the moment you attack the label, I won’t allow it”.

Kaywa further revealed the reason he voiced out Lasmid’s exit, and that the label has not earned any profit since its establishment, contrary to what people think.

He said:

“The label has brought people out. Somebody asked me if we’d made money; no, but we have sacrificed a lot”.

Kaywa noted:

“When they see the artiste rise, they contact that artiste directly, and they tell them that what the label is doing is fine, but we can do better. So, I put it on my Instagram page some time ago that, dear poacher, if you want to poach, do it better”.

Kaywa

He said he has no grudges against them and does not wish them bad in all their endeavors. He still produces beats for them although he has parted ways with most of his trained musicians.

Music producer and the Chief Executive Officer of Highly Spiritual Music, Kaywa, revealed how Lasmid left his label.

Kaywa said he did not have a contract with Lasmid from the outset.

According to him, Lasmid was given to him by the organizers of the MTN Hitmaker as part of his prize package after winning the Season 8 of the music contest in 2019.

He said:

“MTN gave Lasmid to me for one year for GHS 40,000 to produce two songs, two videos, to promote two songs two videos. Outrageous. I put in all”.

Kaywa

He said that after a year, Lasmid’s time was over and he was sad. He noted:

“He wanted to stay and I also wanted him to stay but the young chaps in the industry felt my focus was on him even though he was no more part of the label. So I personally called him with some people. Let’s agree. Let’s push you to where at least we have a hit song then the conversation will be different so when we are signing you to the label proper then nobody will have a problem”.

Kaywa added that after taking a couple of years to push Lasmid’s craft, he luckily got his first hit, ‘Friday Night’ which was his fourth song under the label.  It was after his second hit, ‘Running’ that he decided to part ways with the label.

However, Lasmid, who was initially eager to sign the contract, later declined with the help of some acclaimed lawyers from Nigeria, whom he, Kaywa never knew.

Due to the requests made by the lawyers, he felt that they were not interested in the contract. So he had to let Lasmid go.

This comes a few months after it was announced that Mr. Drew had also parted ways with the label after the expiration of their contract.

Kaywa has worked with other artists such as Kurl Songx, Yaw Berk, Krymi, King Maaga, and Rashelle Blue.

Currently, he has signed four new artists to Highly Spiritual Music. They are Cadeen, Joe Vibe, Shuga Lord, and Joe Verse.
