I Think My Music Is Timeless – S3fa

Ghanaian musician, S3fa

Ghanaian musician, Sefadzi Abena Amesu popularly known in showbiz as S3fa has asserted that she thinks her music is timeless.

According to her, during a visit to South Africa, she got a dignitary award because of her song ‘Fever’, adding that it is doing well even though it has been released for long.

“When we went outside for our U.S. tour too, everywhere, I know ‘E Choke’ was like… But everybody was like ‘Fever’, ‘Fever’. So I think there is more it can do,” she said.

S3fa revealed that even though some people have their own opinions about her music when she releases it, she thinks that her music, even as time goes on, can be listened to and jammed to.

“It’s not something that will fade maybe just now. Because as of now, I still perform ‘E Choke’, I still perform ‘Fever’, I still perform ‘Shuga’,” S3fa revealed.

She further stated that Ghanaians pressure artists in the country to release new songs when they are not done consuming the released songs available to them.

S3fa emphasized that Ghanaians have a short memory span thus, they easily forget about the new songs made available to them and would rather pressure the musicians for new songs.

“With me, because I like enjoying my passion, I want people to enjoy it too. In as much as this is my profession now, I want people to listen to the songs and be like ‘Okay she has put out a song so let me consume’. Ghanaians have a short memory span. If you release a song today, They can forget it in two weeks and they will be pressuring you for a new one. If you follow them, you will release like a thousand songs and they will not know one.”

Sefadzi is a vocally skilled female Ghanaian afrobeat artist professionally known on stage, and performer who is signed to DBlack‘s ‘Black Avenue Muzik’ label.

Fighting For The Rights Of People

S3fa revealed that she loves fighting for the rights of people especially in a country where she finds herself and also finds herself in challenges.

According to her, a lot of celebrities were not informed about the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest so most of them didn’t show up.

“Even the day of the protest, I think the first day, I didn’t know there was even any protest going on and that day I was supposed to release a song. So I woke up and I didn’t even go on Twitter because you know it started from Twiiter and it wasn’t even on Instagram. I posted on Instagram and I don’t handle my Twitter. So it was just an update from the music company saying my song is out. People started calling me, ‘S3fa go and delete that. They will bash you.’…I didn’t know that anything was happening.”

She emphasized that when it comes to protests in the country, the public needs to be informed in order for others not to think that some people doesn’t care when they actually don’t know what is happening in the country.

S3fa disclosed that she didn’t even understand what ‘Julorbi’ meant, so had to ask and later tweeted about the protest.

“After I tweeted about the whole thing, because I heard that people got attacked that was what really got to me because I hate it when people’s rights are being like not respected or abused. So I tweeted about it and I was still bashed,” she said.

The afrobeat musician asked those on Twitter trolling people for their acts to set examples for others to follow.

“I just want to say that those on Twitter who go hard bashing others for not doing… Are you also there? I might not be there because I don’t know what’s happening but you know what’s happening so why aren’t you there?” she quizzed.

She advised that if a protest will take place and in order for it to reach the right places, it needs to be organized properly and the public needs to be informed because she felt there was no impact after the first day of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest.
