The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has successfully relocated 300 displaced victims of the Akosombo dam spillage induced-flood to a newly furnished apartment.

Expressing joy over the news the North Tongu Lawmaker commended the Construction Ambassadors of the First Sky Group for funding the construction of the building and the traditional leaders in the North Tongu Constituency for providing land for the construction project.

“Relocation day has been a great success. Tonight, some 300 beloved constituents of mine are going to bed in far better conditions than the congested classrooms they have been compelled to live in for the past 10 weeks”.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP North Tongu

The North Tongu Member of Parliament further indicated that all occupants of the completely furnished apartment would not pay any rent allowances as well as utility bills.

According to him, the office of the Member of Parliament in the North Tongu Constituency shall bear the cost of all utility bills including electricity and water bills until the displaced victims of the Akosombo dam spillage-induced flood in his constituency are resettled in their permanent homes.

Again, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa emphasized that the Safe Alternative Housing Project provides a very significant opportunity to his constituency as it has ensured that all displaced persons who settled at Mepe St. Kizito Senior Technical School have now been relocated to ensure the reopening of the school.

He noted that that development would afford about eight hundred (800) stranded first-year students to report to school while continuing students both in the second and third year would also resume after losing about six weeks of schooling.

“I commend all our volunteers and partners who made this new beautiful housing project possible in just 7 weeks. Now, let’s go make our second Safe Alternative Housing Project in Mepe another success. In this together, rising together”.

Moreover, the North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa pledged to provide all the needed support required to ensure effective and efficient teaching and learning activities in St. Kizito Senior Technical School in Mepe for the benefit of the students and the entire community.

According to Mr Ablakwa, such an intervention would also ensure that the St. Kizito Senior Technical School can catch up with senior secondary schools across the country.

Meanwhile, Reverend Eastwood Anaba and the Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM) have presented a cheque for GHS50,000.00 to support the second Safe Alternative Housing Project in the North Constituency.

“The 12,633 displaced persons in North Tongu will never forget your godly and glorious act of kindness. Manifold blessings upon my spiritual father — Rev. Eastwood Anaba, his dear wife, Mama Rose and all associates. In this together, rising together”.
