Afua Asantewaa: Day 5 In Record-Breaking Singing Marathon

Afua Asantewaa’s attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual has shown an impressive showcase of musical stamina as it crossover into its fifth day at Akwaaba Village in Accra.

Asantewaa is making strides in her quest with unyielding determination amid the cheers of a growing crowd of supporters.

Her Singathon was scheduled to commence on 24th December 2023 through to 28th of the same month.

A lineup of showbiz personalities, including Nana Ama McBrown, Kwabena Kwabena, Efya, Sista Afia, Afronitaa, Delay, Cina Soul, Clemento Suarez, Akuapem Poloo, Lawyer Nti, Piesie Esther, and OB Amponsah, DKB, SDK, DSP Kofi Sarpong, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Kuame Eugene have been to the venue to support Asantewaa’s extraordinary endeavor.

Entering its fifth day, Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon continues to captivate audiences and make history with her remarkable musical feat with just a few hours left to go.

In her quest to have a name in the Guinness World Records, Afua Asantewaa has been left with the daunting task that requires her stamina, strength, perseverance, and confidence to be able to sail through.

With over 90 hours done and dusted in her Singathon, an image of the budding woman activist has popped up on social media and fast going viral.

In the image, tears can be seen trickling down her face and one does not need to be told what she’s already going through.

The viral picture moved many Ghanaians who were rallying behind Afua Asantewaa as she gets closer to setting a new record. Others prayed for her and asked when she would stop singing as they were concerned for her health and well-being.

Also, Afua’s husband has supported her attempt to break the world record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.

The man has been there since Afua started the sing-a-thon on December 24, 2023, to show his support to his wife. Whether there is a massive crowd, especially during the evenings, or a few people present in the mornings, Afua’s better half is there to show he is with her throughout the journey.

In a post on social media, the man is seen holding up a placard and standing alone in the morning when most people who came to show their support have gone home to rest. “More strength Afua”, the placard read.

Alan Kyerematen Storms Akwaaba Village To Support Asantewaa

Independent presidential aspirant, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen joined Ghanaians at the Akwaaba Village in Accra, to support Afua Asantewaa who is currently attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.

The presidential aspirant was accompanied by his wife and other members of his campaign team.

Mr Kyerematen stood with the crowd and cheered on Afia, who performed a mix of gospel and highlife songs.

After spending some time cheering her on, the leader of the Movement for Change exchanged pleasantries with the crowd, who were excited to interact with him.

He’s the second high-profile political figure to visit the Akwaaba Village, after the Vice President and NPP presidential candidate for election 2024, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Also, former President John Dramani Mahama disclosed that Afua Asantewaa O Aduonum’s, tenacity and effort in bringing global attention to Ghana is worth celebrating.

Former President Mahama in a Facebook post on Wednesday said Afua has provided an opportunity to showcase the strength, agency, and industry of Ghanaian women.
