NPP Primaries: Northern NPP Concern Youth Chastises Regional Executives Over Bimbilla Brouhaha

Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba

A group of the New Patriotic Party Concern Youth in the Northern Region has chastised its Regional Party Executives for what it described as the mishandling of the parliamentary primaries in the Bimbilla Constituency.

The group in a press statement strongly accused the New Patriotic Party Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba of failing to demonstrate leadership in the management of the inability of Alhaji Zaruk, one of the parliamentary candidates in the Bimbilla Constituency to sign his nomination form.

According to the Concern Youth of the New Patriotic in the Northern Region, the failure of the parliamentary candidate, Mr Zaruk to sign portions of the nomination form should not have exceeded the jurisdiction of the Bimbilla Constituency executives.

“The leadership of Northern NPP Concern Youth has taken notice of happenings in Bimbilla relative to NPP parliamentary primaries. The said issue has generated so much controversy beyond the shores of the Bimbilla constituency. As a concern NPP youth group numbers over one thousand, with members across the 18 constituencies of the Northern Region, we wish to condemn the Northern Regional Executives especially the Regional Chairman in the person of Chairman Samba for failing to resolve this minor issue which may eventually cost the party the Bimbilla seat.

“Also, for candidate Zaruk to admit fault and apologize during the vetting meant there was an opportunity for the matter to be settled amicably without further dragging the issue. But for Chairman Samba to have violated the instructions of the vetting committee chairman and asked for candidate Zaruk to go back to Bimbilla and sign the form meant Chairman Samba and his supporting regional executives were not just ready for the issue to be resolved anytime soon”.

The group further accused the Bimbilla Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party of lacking due diligence in the discharge of their responsibilities and posited that the  constituency executives had every opportunity to get Mr Alhaji Zaruk to sign the form before it was submitted to the Regional Vetting Committee.

The group while condemning the conduct of the party’s Northern Regional Chairman, vehemently argued that such conduct of Mr Samba must not be condoned in the New Patriotic Party, a party that believes in the ideals and principles of liberal democracy.

Furthermore, the Concern Youth of the New Patriotic Party in the Northern Region accused the Northern Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party of deliberately engaging in a scheme that would benefit their preferred candidate in the parliamentary primaries in the Bimbilla Constituency.

The group therefore urged other regional executives who are not in support of the conduct of the Northern Regional Chairman to speak against his conduct in the management of the affairs of the Bimbilla parliamentary primaries or else it shall consider their silence to mean an endorsement of the conduct of the the Regional Chairman.

“What will Chairman Samba and his Regional Executives benefit if candidate Zaruk goes to Bimbilla and signs the form? Chairman Samba and the vetting committee invited the media into the vetting room so they could get evidence that candidate Zaruk was the problem in this whole Bimbilla chaos but, what prevented Chairman Samba and his Vetting committee members from allowing candidate Zaruk to sign the form in the presence of that same media so we know they were serving the best interest of our party”.

Group Calls For National Leadership Intervention To Restore Calm In Bimbilla Constituency

Moreover, the leadership of the Northern New Patriotic Party Concern Youth admonished the national leadership of the New Patriotic Party to take immediate steps and measures to resolve the unnecessary controversy which has characterized the party’s parliamentary primaries vetting in the Bimbilla Constituency.

According to the group, if in the unlikeliest of things, the New Patriotic Party loses the Bimbilla Constituency parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections due to the conduct of the Regional Chairman, Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba, it shall blame the national leadership of the party for failing to respond to their concerns.

“To the youth of the party, if the perpetrators of this plain injustice succeed with their diabolical agenda, we will not only lose this Bimbilla seat but will also have no future under the current crop of NPP leaders”.
