Guinness World Records Responds To Chef Faila’s Cook-a-thon

Chef Failatu

The Guinness World Records organization has responded to Chef Faila’s cook-a-thon attempt.

The Ghanaian chef embarked on a 10-day cookathon from January 1st to January 10th, 2024. In a spectacular display of unwavering resilience and with support from Ghanaians, Chef Faila Abdul Razak brought her cookathon to an end today.

Chef Faila cooked for 227 hours nonstop at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, which was flooded with thousands of Ghanaians, celebrities, and dignitaries showing up to support her attempt.

After ending her cook-a-thon today, Chef Faila Abdul Razak has gotten quick feedback from the Guinness World Records.

This comes after Ghanaian TV presenter, Olele Salvador posted Chef Faila’s video, announcing the end of her cook-a-thon on Twitter, now formally known as X. Responding on the social media app, the Guiness World Records acknowledged her attempt.

Via a tweet, the official X account of the GWR wrote “We look forward to reviewing her evidence!”. It is, however, unclear as to when the organization will pass a verdict on Chef Faila’s attempt.

Failiatu’s cook-a-thon was an unforgettable event filled with heartwarming moments that showcased the power of community, support, and the joy of coming together for a meaningful cause.

One of the most touching moments occurred when Afua Asantewaaa, who also embarked on the sing-a-thon feat, showed up to offer her support. Her presence not only boosted morale but also demonstrated the unity within the community.

Dignitaries, including former First Lady Lordina Mahama and Vice President Bawumia, brought an air of importance and validation to the event.

Their attendance highlighted the significance of the cause and demonstrated that the community’s efforts were recognized at the highest levels.

Chef Faila ended her cook-a-thon because her manager asserted that their choice was based on their opinion and what was best for the cook.

However, Chef Failatu’s management disclosed that the chef claimed she wanted to keep cooking even after her medical team said she was healthy enough to do so, but they persuaded her to accept their choice and stop the run.

Her managers revealed that there would be an after-party to thank the people of Ghana for all their help as she tried to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking run by a single person.

Ugandan Chef Mama D Gives Up On GWR Challenge

In an intriguing turn of events regarding the Guinness World Records attempt sweeping across Africa, Ugandan Chef Dorcus Mirembe, affectionately known as Mama D, decided to forgo another endeavor to secure the coveted title for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

This decision comes as Mama D closely follows the remarkable feat of Ghana’s Failatu Abdul-Razak, who is aiming to reach an astonishing 270 hours of continuous cooking by the end of January 10.

Having reportedly cooked for an impressive 144 hours and awaiting confirmation from the Guinness World Records, Mama D revealed her stance on X in response to the news of Failatu Abdul-Razak’s ambitious 240-hour cooking marathon, to surpass the current record holder, Irish Chef Alan Fisher.

Consequently, she has chosen not to pursue this endeavor any further.

When a commenter suggested that Mama D should wait for Chef Failatu to complete her cook-a-thon before attempting another one, Mama D disclosed that she has firmly decided against returning to the kitchen and cooking for days on end, solely to be recognized as the individual with the longest cooking time in the world.

“Kindly read and understand, I meant we are creating a new record of not participating in the Cookathon again,” she retorted.
