The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, former President John Dramani Mahama has urged members and supporters of the party to be cautious in the December 7 polls.

The former President, while interacting with party leadership in the Greater Accra Region as part of his Building Ghana Tour stated that even though extensive campaigning is pivotal in winning elections, the ultimate success lies in the meticulous monitoring of every polling station on Election Day.

Mr Mahama, who lost the 2020 general elections to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo admonished party members and supporters against apathy and further urged them to keenly follow the proceedings at each polling station to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process in the 2024 general elections.

“One of the key things in this election is vigilance, we can do all the campaigning we want, but if we are not vigilant on the day, and we don’t cover every single polling station with eagles’ eyes. You can do all the beautiful things you can, razzmatazz and in the end, you don’t achieve the target you want’.

A key focal point of the National Democratic Congress flagbearer’s message was the need for the party in the Greater Accra Region and the additional fifteen regions to deploy the best party agents to cover every polling station in the country on the day of election.

Furthermore, former President John Dramani Mahama, while mentioning the ongoing exercises conducted by the election directorate of the National Democratic Congress, highlighted the significance of selecting individuals who possess a profound understanding of the electoral system.

The election directorate of the National Democratic Congress, according to former President John Dramani Mahama has been conducting exams for election directors in constituencies and regions, aiming to identify and appoint the most qualified individuals to monitor the 2024 general elections.

Moreover, the National Democratic Congress flagbearer cautioned against sentimental appointments and emphasized the need to appoint individuals based on merit, competence, and a deep understanding of the electoral process.

Mr Mahama emphasized that the success of the party’s campaign to win the next elections would hinge on the effectiveness of the party’s representation at the various polling stations across the country, urging supporters, particularly agents of the party to be diligent and proactive in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He also asserted that the credibility of the electoral process is contingent on having the right people in key positions, to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral exercise on the day of the election.

NDC Greater Accra Region To Deploy Drones On December 7

According to the National Democratic Congress Greater Accra Regional Chairman, the move would also help to strengthen the party’s Election Day monitoring measures to avoid any rigging.

He also underscored the commitment and plans that have already been put in place by the Greater Accra Regional branch of the opposition party to realize its target of securing over two million votes in the December 7 polls.

Mr Ashley Moore further stated that plans are ready in place to train individuals who will use the various resources that the party in the region would deploy on the day of the election.
