Kumasi Pipeline Project Inaugurated, Set to Boosts Ghana’s Industrialization Agenda

The government of Ghana in a significant move towards boosting the country’s energy sector and industrialization agenda has inaugurated the Kumasi Pipeline Project, a project spearheaded by Genser Energy Ghana Limited, in Anwomaso, Kumasi.

The ceremony, graced by key figures including the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuor Osei Tutu II in the view of the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh marked the culmination of a long-held quest by the ruling New Patriotic Party administration.

The Member of Parliament for Manahyia South in Ashanti Region further expressed his pleasure at witnessing the realization of the project, attributing its success to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders.

He particularly acknowledged the instrumental roles played by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, past Ministers for Energy, Technical Advisors, and the dedicated team at the Ministry of Energy.

“It was such a pleasure to witness…the coming into fruition of a long-held quest of the NPP government under His Excellency the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Asantehene His Royal Majesty Otumfuor Osei Tutu II – the inauguration of the Genser Energy Ghana Limited’s Kumasi Pipeline Project in Anwomaso, Kumasi”

Furthermore, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh stated that the Kumasi Pipeline Project holds immense promise for Ghana’s energy landscape, as both public and private entities, including the Volta River Authority (VRA), AKSA, and CENIT, have committed to either relocating or constructing new power plants in Anwomaso to leverage the facility.

This strategic move, he noted underscores the project’s potential to enhance the supply of natural gas to key stakeholders, thereby bolstering the country’s energy security and supporting industrial growth.

Kumasi to Benefit from Improved Energy Reliability

Dr. Opoku Prempeh  also emphasized that the project hold great significance in rejuvenating the industrial sector of the Ashanti Region, positioning it as a pivotal hub within the broader context of the governing New Patriotic Party administration’s industrialization agenda.

With potential increased access to natural gas, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South stated that businesses in the region would benefit from improved energy reliability and cost-effectiveness, fostering a conducive environment for investment and economic expansion.

Moreover, the Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Premepeh recounted that the Kumasi Pipeline Project represents a testament to the country’s commitment to sustainable development and economic progress.

He stressed that as the country continues to pursue ambitious goals in the energy sector and beyond, partnerships between government, private enterprises, and local communities will remain essential in driving inclusive growth and prosperity for all citizens.

Honorable Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh concluded his remarks by touting the significance of the Kumasi Pipeline Project, adding that the inauguration of the project marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s journey towards energy security and industrialization.
