The government of Ghana has initiated the rehabilitation of major roads within the Ejisu Municipality, aiming to ensure their timely completion. This initiative is led by the Roads and Highways Minister, Francis Asenso Boakye, who inspected the ongoing projects.

The Minister dismissed speculations that these projects were motivated by the upcoming by-election in the area, emphasizing that they are part of the government’s broader commitment to infrastructure development.

“Overall, there are thirty-two road projects underway, covering 247.06km, aimed at enhancing living conditions and fostering development in Ejisu. It is without doubt that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led administration has been phenomenal in the development of road infrastructure at Ejisu and across the country.”

The Minister noted that the contracts were awarded over the past three months, before the passing of the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Ampontuah Kumah, and assured that these are not by-election projects but normal projects the ministry is implementing.

Contractors are actively engaged in various projects across communities such as Achiakrom, Abankro, Donyina, Onwe, and Adako Jachie, signaling a tangible commitment to infrastructure enhancement in the Ejisu Municipality.

So far the contractors have completed the clearing of the road alignment and are progressing with the construction of culverts, bridges, box culverts, pipe culverts, and earthworks. The Minister pledged the government’s commitment to addressing challenges by providing financial resources for the project.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the work going on and confidence in the contractors, who are described as some of the best in the country. He assured that these projects will be completed as scheduled, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure across the country, including the Ejisu Municipality, as part of its broader development agenda.

Road Rehabilitation projects in the Ejisu

The road rehabilitation projects in the Ejisu Municipality are expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and job creation opportunities.

The Roads and Highways Minister indicated that the rehabilitation of the Ejisu roads will reduce transportation costs and improve accessibility to markets and services, which can stimulate economic activity in the area. This can lead to increased sales for local businesses and potentially attract new investments.

Aunti Ampomaa, a resident of Ejisu said, “The improved infrastructure will make the Ejisu Municipality more attractive to both local and foreign investors. Better roads can facilitate the movement of goods and people, making the area more accessible and potentially increasing investment in various sectors.”

The Minister of Roads and Highways hinted at plans to construct more roads across the country in the coming months under the government’s agenda for roads. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to address the challenges of poor road conditions and limited access to markets, which have hindered economic development in many parts of the country.

The government’s focus on infrastructure development is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy, improve the quality of life for its citizens, and enhance Ghana’s competitiveness on the global stage.

The road rehabilitation projects by the government of Ghana will have a positive impact on the local economy and job creation opportunities in the Ejisu Municipality. By improving infrastructure, these projects can stimulate economic growth, create jobs, attract investment, improve access to services, boost tourism, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
