Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader in Parliament, has reiterated his unshakeable optimism in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ability to secure a resounding victory in the upcoming December 7, 2024 elections, with a particular focus on the Central Region, where he anticipates a significant triumph.

Afenyo-Markin confidently predicted that the NPP would clinch at least 14 parliamentary seats in the Central Region, attributing this anticipated success to the party’s vigorous campaigns, meticulous planning, and strategic execution, which he believes will yield decisive victories.

“We will work hard and diligently to ensure this. We will explain our policies to the people, and with God’s Grace, the promise of not less than 14 seats will be fulfilled. It will all be hard work, prayers, guided and calculated steps”.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin

Afenyo-Markin also underscored the NPP’s multifaceted strategy to ensure triumph, stressing the crucial role of unity, fervent prayers, and meticulous planning in achieving success.

He emphasized that a united front, divine guidance, and well-executed plans would be instrumental in securing a resounding victory for the party.

Afenyo-Markin recalled the 2020 general election results, where the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suffered a setback, ceding nine parliamentary seats to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This, he noted, gained a significant foothold in the Central Region, winning 13 seats out of the total 23, an outcome that underscored the need for the NPP to regroup and revitalize its efforts.

Afenyo-Markin candidly acknowledged the party’s internal divisions, revealing that a lack of unity hindered their progress, as some members actively worked against their own party colleagues, ultimately contributing to the NPP’s defeats.

He passionately appealed to NPP members and supporters to put aside their differences and rally together towards a common goal: breaking the eight-year cycle of political alternation and securing a historic victory for the party.

Afenyo-Markin stressed the crucial need for a united front, underscoring that cohesive and harmonious party machinery is essential for electoral triumph and that a collective effort will pave the way for a resounding victory at the polls.

Afenyo-Markin Warns NPP To Heed Research Findings

Moreover, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, cautioned against disregarding the revelations from Global InfoAnalytics, emphasizing the significance of taking the findings seriously and leveraging them to inform strategic decisions that can impact the party’s future performance.

Afenyo-Markin emphasized that, even if the data paints an unfavorable picture of the NPP, it still serves as a vital resource for informed decision-making and strategic planning, enabling the party to adapt and strengthen its approach ahead of the election.

Afenyo-Markin credited his enduring political success to data-driven decision-making and cautioned that disregarding research findings would be a perilous mistake for any politician, emphasizing that data analysis is essential for informed strategy and effective governance.

Meanwhile, Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, cast uncertainty on Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s capacity to sway floating and undecided voters to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming presidential election on December 7, expressing skepticism about Prempeh’s ability to appeal to this crucial voting bloc.

“As a researcher who works with data, the first question I ask is, who is Matthew Opoku Prempeh coming to convince to vote for the NPP? Is it to convince floating voters or is he being brought in to convince the NPP party? Clearly, he is not being brought in to win floating voters. I don’t think he has the charisma to bring in floating voters, so the conclusion is that he is being brought in to mobilize the NPP”.

Mussa Dankwah

Mussa Dankwah noted that the selection of Opoku Prempeh is a strategic move to galvanize and energize the existing NPP loyalists, rather than a bid to expand the party’s appeal and draw in new supporters.

He suggested that the NPP’s focus is on consolidating the party’s base rather than broadening its reach.

“The question is, why is the flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, not able to mobilize the NPP, but rather use his running mate to do that? This is very unusual in our election cycle and campaign.”
