Kim Kardashian Shares Struggle with Emotional Numbness After Trauma

American reality star, Kim Kardashian, has expressed worry that she’s “turning into a full robot” with “no emotion” due to previous trauma.

Kim opened up about her struggle with mental health to her sister Khloe Kardashian.

“[My therapist] was like, ‘You think calm is your superpower. I think you are so desensitized from trauma that you literally are frozen in fight or flight’. So then she was like, ‘One time in life something happened, and you remained calm, and that worked for you. So you will always choose calm’.”

Khloe suggested that Kim’s 2016 Paris robbery ordeal could be the trauma behind her tendency to remain calm.

She said before the incident Kim wasn’t calm before.

“You were never calm as a teenager, in your 20s. You cried about everything. You were bratty. You threw tantrums. Everything stopped after you got robbed, because you stayed calm in that situation and you even said, ‘My calmness is what kept me alive,’” Khloe added.

Kim Kardashian reflected on the events of her robbery and how the traumatic incident has affected her mental health.

“Imagine you’re like, gun to your head, getting tied up, dragged across a hotel room, and the guy, I remember him telling me, ‘Just like, stay calm and you’ll live’. And I did that.

“[It] served me well at that time, and I think it saved my life. But I think I’ve let it get too calm to where people could take advantage of my calmness or I’m just turning into a full robot with like, no emotion.”

Also, the 43-year-old mother of four, who shares North, 11, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5, with 47-year-old Kanye West, revealed that one of her boys has vitiligo.

“It came from my mom, went to me, and I passed it on in a different form to my son, who has vitiligo very mildly,” the Kardashians star said.

According to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, vitiligo is a “chronic autoimmune disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color.” The institute explains that “happens when melanocytes – skin cells that make pigment – are attacked and destroyed, causing the skin to turn a milky-white color.”

Although Kim, who has psoriasis, didn’t specify which of her children has the disorder, she mentioned that it is “under control.”

“I didn’t know anything about it, but having to learn about it and figuring out where it came from and that it’s hereditary and just learning more and being able to share that [has been a blessing].”

The candid TV personality also shared that her kids have “a little bit of eczema.”

Kardashian has been managing psoriasis since she was about 30 and is the only one of Kris Jenner’s six children to inherit the condition.

“I’ll do anything,’ she said about treating the uncomfortable flareups. ‘I’ve tried special herbs, the holistic way, a celery juice diet for six weeks, every topical cream, every soap from natural to unnatural.”

Reality Star Reveals How She Sustained Her Finger Injuries

Kim Kardashian recently detailed a harrowing finger injury, describing the pain as “more painful than childbirth”.

The mishap occurred due to a sliding door and a late-night snack.

The 43-year-old SKIMS founder was seen at the doctor’s office with two fingers on her left hand bandaged. When asked about the incident, Kim explained that the injury happened with “my big sliding door to my bathroom.”

The door didn’t have a latch, so Kim stopped it with her hand. The door’s mechanics were confusing, and as she pulled it hard, her son Saint, 8, ran in with chips.

Kim, who shares Saint with her ex-husband, Kanye West, had just told him it was too late for chips when she was distracted. The door suddenly slammed, causing her to groan in pain.

As the “graphic images” warning flashed on the screen, Kim Kardashian looked at her hand and collapsed on the ground. Her index and ring fingertips had turned purplish-gray, and a shard of bone was protruding from the top of her middle finger.

Kardashian recounted the moment, saying that after seeing the blood, she grabbed the table and dropped to her knees. “And it was my bone sticking out a little bit. Get me help,” she recalled.

Despite needing ice, she did not scream or panic, simply uttering the word “help.”

“I didn’t do anything but freeze. You can’t even describe the pain but your whole body goes into shock. It was, like, more painful than childbirth.”

Kim Kardashian

After Kardashian saw her x-ray flash on the screen with the tip of the bone in her finger broken, she told the staff member at the doctor’s office, “It’s like a floating piece… I wanted to die.”

The doctor warned Kim Kardashian that there was a possibility her nails might never grow back. She responded with a touch of humor, saying, “Oh come on. I’m going to invent a nail implant.”
