NDC Launches 2024 Campaign in Tamale, Citing Strategic Choice of Party Stronghold

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has justified the party’s decision to host its 2024 National Campaign launch in Tamale, the capital of the Northern region.

The party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, speaking ahead of the main event, indicated that the decision was deliberate and strategic, emphasizing the significance of the region as a party stronghold.

As the NDC gears up for the 2024 elections, Mr Kwetey posited that the choice of Tamale as the launch venue underscores the party’s strategic focus on its strongholds while aiming to energize its supporters across the country.

“We wanted to be in a place where our party’s stronghold is. When launching campaigns of this nature, you need to be in a place where you can feel energized. Tamale was the perfect choice.  Tamale is like home to us. It represents an important starting point for a journey”.

Tamale’s Symbolic Importance to NDC

Mr Kwetey highlighted his involvement in making this decision, reflecting on the region’s symbolic importance to the National Democratic Congress.

“I remember in 2008, when we needed to set the records straight, we started in Accra and then came to Tamale”, Mr Kwetey emphasized, underscoring the importance of the opposition party’s decision to host its 2024 National Campaign launch in the Northern region’s capital.

He pointed out that the spirit of Tamale was crucial in setting the tone for the rest of the campaign across the country.

“That spirit is why we chose Tamale for this important program, which I believe will change the destiny of our country. The campaign is at the core of our country’s destiny. Our country’s future is at stake,” he elaborated.

In an earlier remark, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey called on Ghanaians to join the opposition party in its campaign to reset Ghana.

The chief scribe of the opposition party, in a rallying call, strongly pointed out that the launch of the party’s National Campaign in Tamale is the beginning of a new chapter aimed at rescuing Ghana from what he described as years of mismanagement and corruption under the current administration.

In his impassioned remarks, Mr Kwetey underscored the urgency and critical nature of the moment, urging all citizens to unite in the face of economic hardship and political malpractice.

The campaign launch is ongoing today, with an anticipated attendance of over 50,000 supporters.

The event promises to be a grand display of unity and solidarity, featuring a keynote speech by the party’s flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, and running mate Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Some national executives of the party, including the National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, among several others are also expected to speak at the event.

The program will also include a showcase of the party’s achievements and a rallying call to action for supporters.

The launch is expected to be a vibrant affair, with music and dance performances adding to the festive atmosphere.

NDC Members of Parliament, parliamentary candidates, and a large contingent of supporters are also present, underscoring the party’s commitment to mobilizing its base for the upcoming elections.

The campaign launch marks the beginning of what the NDC hopes will be a victorious journey, setting the tone for the months leading up to the general elections.
