Gospel artiste, Minister OJ has observed “very good communicators stammer”.

Due to the speech disorder, the star singer-songwriter and composer said, “You end up reading widely and writing more, and soon you become a perfect writer and sharp at thinking”.

“This happens because the energy you cannot use for speaking, you convert into something else. This is how I became a writer. I couldn’t talk that much and so I had to read and write more.”

On aid for stammering, the ‘Obi Nya Wo Aye’ hitmaker said, “Sometimes, we grow out of it.”

He pointed to YouTube for more practical techniques to overcome stammering, and he noted that relaxing and taking in air slowly helps.

“With the little air you get, say more quickly. This is because the more you drag the words, the more the air gets stuck,” the Gospel musician added.

Minister OJ said what exacerbates stammering is the condition “makes us impatient and if you’re not careful, you’ll start throwing your hands about.”

He asked people around individuals living with dysfluency to, as a matter of courtesy, allow them to finish their sentences on their own. If not, he warned, it further frustrates the individual.

OJ posited to those struggling with the speech disorder, perhaps, “God is using the condition to slow you down so you commit to reading and knowledge acquisition so that by the time it goes away, and it will with time, you’d be weighty mentally”.

For instance, OJ cited, “former President John Agyekum Kufour stammered but the man is widely-read”.

The highlife-influenced song, produced, mixed, and mastered by the talented Jo Oware, is now available on all major digital platforms.

Minister OJ, known for his soul-inspiring music and profound lyrical content, invites listeners to embark on a spiritual journey with his latest release.

OJ revealed he has a vault of songs and whenever he is ready to put one out, he only asks himself, “Which one should it be?”

“I started writing into a book from 1995,” he revealed.

The Gospel Star encouraged young people to identify time as their utmost resource.

He advised the same to eschew time-draining habits like immorality, and rather invest in self-discovery while utilizing technology to the advantage of their unique careers.

“If you’re young, you have more time. When I was young, I was not spending my time chasing women. I was so into myself to the extent that I wanted to get more because I noticed when I eventually got married, I’d have too many responsibilities, which would distract my inspiration to write.

“While you’re young, write. Your generation is even fortunate to have phones you can record your ideas on. Even 10 years after, there are songs you can revisit from these records. Save these, and push them to your email. By the time you realize it, you’ll have many songs.”

Minister OJ

“If not, when you become an adult, get married, have children, start traveling, etc., the music may become nearly impossible to do,” the serial hitmaker cautioned.

Michael Oware Sakyi, affectionately called Minister OJ, is a widely respected prolific singer-songwriter and composer who artfully combines socially conscious and Christian themes in his music.
