Cudjoe Doubts Bawumia’s ‘Digital’ Economic Revival Plan

Franklin Cudjoe on galamsey menace

Franklin Cudjoe, IMANI Africa

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has expressed concerns about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s capacity to deliver on his pledge to lead Ghana’s economic resurgence as the NPP’s flagbearer has outlined in his manifesto.

Franklin Cudjoe voiced skepticism regarding Dr. Bawumia’s assertion that digitization is the key to Ghana’s economic revival, particularly given the current government’s underwhelming performance during his tenure as Vice President.

“In fact, he plans to use digitization to fight grand theft and corruption, mostly cooked or backed up at the presidency (our examination of documents over two decades reveals) almost sounds as though he’d appoint one person as Minister for Economy and Digitalization. Good, if he does”.

Franklin Cudjoe

Franklin Cudjoe demanded that Dr. Bawumia publicly name his top contenders for the Minister of Digitalization and Economic Development role, ensuring transparency and citizen engagement.

He stressed that public scrutiny is necessary to verify the candidates’ integrity and competence, ensuring they have no history of digitalization-related misconduct, such as data theft or system sabotage, and that they possess the necessary qualifications for the position.

The IMANI President added that this examination will also help to gauge the candidates’ appetite for innovation and their capacity to drive proactive initiatives that can propel Ghana’s digitalization agenda forward.

As such, he underscored the importance of innovation and initiative as the essential drivers of progress and prosperity in a developing country like Ghana, at a time when transformative change is most crucial.

Franklin Cudjoe ridiculed Dr. Bawumia’s effort to absolve himself of responsibility for the present economy, analogizing that the nation doesn’t require another driver’s mate to support the Chief Mate, emphasizing the need for a capable leader rather than another assistant.

He urged the Vice President to publicly disclose the names of the shortlisted candidates, enabling the public to scrutinize their credentials and hold them accountable for their actions and decisions when necessary.

NDC Accuses Bawumia Of Policy Theft

Moreover, Malik Basintale, the NDC’s Deputy National Communications Officer, has repeated his assertion that the NPP flagbearer lifted several key policies from the NDC’s 2020 election manifesto, “The People’s Manifesto“, without proper acknowledgment.

Basintale dismissed the newly launched NPP manifesto as worthless, highlighting that it largely consists of unfulfilled policies from the NPP’s previous tenure, which have been rehashed and presented as new.

“I have seen the NPP (Ghc10 bundle) loudmouths on social media say I said, ‘NPP Stole 50 policies from the NDC’s 2020 manifesto and that I again said 216 plain sheets are better than 216 pages of NPP’s manifesto. By that, I contradicted myself, meaning the NDC’s 2020 manifesto was also useless”.

Malik Basintale

The NDC Communicator further emphasized that it is important to note that the NPP’s 2024 manifesto is a substantial document, totaling 260 pages.

He asserted that a staggering 216 pages out of the 260-page manifesto were merely a compilation of the NPP’s and Dr. Bawumia’s personal thoughts, rendering them essentially useless.

According to Basintale, the NPP’s manifesto lacks authenticity, as he asserts that the most valuable 44 pages were lifted from the NDC’s manifesto, a clear indication, he argues, of Dr. Bawumia’s inability to think critically and generate novel ideas.

He advised that next time, the NPP’s “low minds” should take the time to comprehend why he specifically mentioned “216 pages” instead of “260 pages”, implying that they lacked the intellectual capacity to understand the distinction.

“I’m sure they won’t sleep after realizing that they were misled by their Bundle sponsors” – Malik Basintale

Meanwhile, the NDC Communicator confidently asserted that the NDC’s forthcoming manifesto, scheduled to be unveiled on Saturday, August 27th, surpasses the NPP’s offering in both quality and substance.

He emphasized that the manifesto is comprehensively designed to address the needs and concerns of all vital aspects of Ghanaian society and economy.
