Rudeboy

Nigerian singer, Paul Okoye better known as Rudeboy has stated that he and some of his pairs are supposed to have retired from music by now.

Rudeboy claimed that, in the old order, musicians didn’t stay active for long.

The expectant father of three also noted that criticism and scandals are inevitable in the entertainment industry, affecting both top artists and newcomers.

He stated that what truly matters is the musician’s personality and how they handle challenges. Rudeboy also pointed out the challenge of balancing family life with the demands of being an active musician.

“In the old ways of doing music, by now people like us are supposed to retire,” he said.

“There’s always a time for everything in life. Things will always happen. If you are a celebrity and you think people will always see you like an angel, trust me you’re not going anywhere. There are times that something would be against you. It’s always like that.

“Every top artist has had their share of criticisms and scandals. Even the up-and-coming ones, too, will suffer the same fate someday. It’s a normal thing [in the entertainment industry]. But what matters is your personality and how you handle issues.”

Rudeboy shot to fame in the 2000s as part of the P-Square duo with his twin brother Peter Okoye, known as Mr. P.

The group initially split in 2016 but reunited in 2021. However, in August 2024, Rudeboy confirmed that P-Square had broken up once more after Peter accused him and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, of diverting the group’s funds.

Rudeboy is eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first child with his new wife, Ivy Ifeoma.

At 42, Rudeboy has embarked on this new chapter with 24-year-old Ifeoma, following their traditional wedding earlier this year.

Ifeoma has shared her excitement on Instagram by posting pictures of her baby bump and simply writing “God.”

Rudeboy remarried three years after his separation from Anita Okoye.

The former couple shares three children. In January, Ifeoma expressed her hurt over being labeled a “homewrecker,” stating she received numerous negative messages and accusations.

Amid the ongoing dispute between brothers Paul and Peter of the P-Square pop duo, Rudeboy has now refused to speak on their feud.

He was asked about his personal feelings regarding the unresolved issues between him and his brother.

Expressing his frustration, Rudeboy stated that he would rather avoid discussing the feud to avoid his words being twisted.

“I’m going to say something and I’m sorry. I know it’s a show but I’d rather not say anything. I’m tired of this twisting of statements; you’re a fan of Psquare and it’s my family. So why would I say something now that would turn into something else? Let’s stick to the Rudeboy.”

This comes after he revealed that the P-Square duo had split up yet again on August 1, 2024. Paul further shared that Peter petitioned him and their older brother Jude Okoye to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who invited him in.

In the interview, Paul also shared that the EFCC investigated and cleared him of any financial misappropriation.

After that, Peter replied to his public statements in an open letter, stating that Paul’s interview undermined their joint legacy and his individual contributions to the group. He also stressed that he is in no competition with his twin.

Their public spat has since garnered reactions from Nigerians both at home and abroad, and politician Peter Obi visited the brothers individually in a bid to reconcile them.
