The Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale lauded the NDC’s Victory in the 2024 Elections.

He delivered a detailed statement addressing issues surrounding the collation of election results and the party’s confidence in its coalition process. Speaking from the regional coalition center, Basintale emphasized the NDC’s strong position in the 2024 elections and its determination to ensure fairness in the declaration of results.

Basintale began by highlighting the role of Ghanaians in determining political power. He emphasized;

“We told you the Ghanaian people decide who they want to give power to. Power has never been in the hands of any political party on the 6th of December. By the 7th, power goes into your hands, and you determine who to give it to.”

He asserted that the decision of Ghanaians was clear and that the NDC had earned their trust. He called on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) stating; “Ghanaians have determined. If they are men, they should come for power. We are here.”

Addressing concerns about the collation process, Basintale expressed confidence in the NDC’s coalition, claiming their results were accurate and reflected the people’s will. He stated;

“We are done with our coalition. We gave you, our results. You’ve seen our coalition. We are done with all our pink sheets and know the constituencies we’ve won. Any coalition different from ours is a stolen coalition, and it’s a fraudulent coalition, we stand against it because we have our pin sheets. There are places NPP said they had won. Where are they today? Was it true that they won? I was in the room.”

Basintale pointed out the unprecedented nature of the NDC’s projected victory margin. He noted; “1.5 and still counting 1,000,000 difference. Never in the history of this country.” He ridiculed the NPP’s earlier claims of victory and their eventual concession.

“Bawumia was dancing. He wants a big gap. He wants a big margin. We’ve given him a big margin. He should have delayed it. He should have said he won’t concede. So, we see who owns the street.”

Basintale confidently declared that the NDC was on track to ensuring effective governance. He eulogized;

“We are not just winning a majority. We are winning it to the third majority. What that tells you is that with or without a few NPP MPs, parliament will go on. The few NPP MPs that will be in parliament will virtually be useless. Mark my words.”

Basintale reiterated the NDC’s commitment to fulfilling their promises to Ghanaians. He added; “John Mahama wants to do that within 4 years, and that’s what we are supposed to do.”

Addressing Economic Challenges

Turning his attention to the economic situation in the country, Basintale criticized the NPP’s handling of the economy and highlighted the struggles faced by ordinary Ghanaians.

“The youth of this country said what they need were jobs. They need jobs. They need better living conditions. They need good standards of living.”

He described the economic hardships experienced by workers, particularly the erosion of salaries by inflation:

“By the end of 2 weeks, your salaries are gone due to economic hardship. Tell me on record, even if they pay you 2,000 cedis, what can 2,000 cedis do for you within a month?”

Basintale called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to uphold the integrity of the electoral process by declaring the rightful winner. He charged;

“Whether we are confident or not, the EC must declare John Mahama. That’s a certain. In many of the constituencies where we said we had won and the EC challenged it, later, it turned out that the pink sheets that we brought were fake on the other side.”

However, he warned against any attempt by the EC to manipulate results. He added; “With the genuity of our coalition, it cannot be different from that of the EC, unless the EC wants to steal.”

Meanwhile, the NDC supporters have barricaded the EC coalition Centre demanding the EC declare the presidential winner as soon as possible. The NDC stood between the main highway that passes between Ridge Hospital and the new Bank of Ghana headquarters.

Despite the tension, Basintale expressed hope that the process would conclude peacefully.

Malik Basintale’s statement underscores the NDC’s confidence in their coalition process and their commitment to ensuring the will of the people prevails.
