Kinaata Highlights The Crucial Role Of Traditional Media For Musicians

Kofi Kinaata

Ghanaian music star, Kofi Kinaata has shared his thoughts on the unfortunate incident involving Fameye and a DJ during a live performance in London.

The incident, which saw the DJ mistakenly play the wrong track leading to Fameye’s outburst on stage, has sparked discussions on how musicians should handle such occurrences.

Kofi Kinaata remarked that “sometimes, it’s painful [to encounter such challenges on stage] because, for some people, it’s their first time watching you perform.”

He further noted that the audience might not notice the technical errors; they might think it is the artist who failed to deliver to expectation.

“DJs and bandsmen fail us every day,” he intimated, recounting his personal experience with live performances outside the country in the absence of his personal DJ.

That notwithstanding, the ‘Things Fall Apart’ hitmaker said he has a different approach to solving such issues.

“I prefer to address the issue backstage even when I am angry; I can let the people clap and sing acapella.”

He suggested that communication is essential in managing performance challenges.

He also emphasized the need for artists to maintain composure and adaptability in the face of mistakes.

Ghanaian rapper, Medikal also empathized with Fameye over the incident.

Medikal shared his opinion on the matter, stating that he would be angry if it happened to him too.

“I think he was right because I’ll be vexed if I’m performing and the DJ messes up.”

His opinion highlights the shared frustrations and challenges artists face when they don’t move to perform with their personal DJs, leaving their performances overshadowed by technical errors.

Medikal also addressed the organization of the event and the need to rehearse with DJs for a flawless performance.

Meanwhile, Fameye’s management has issued a statement on the incident, describing what happened as “unprofessional.”

A heated moment was caught on camera on December 15, 2024, as Fameye confronted a DJ for not playing his songs in the order he requested. Instead, the DJ played different versions, leaving Fameye frustrated.

Kinaata Debunks Tension Rumors With Ras Kuuku

Ras Kuuku and Kofi Kinaata

Kofi Kinaata dispelled rumors suggesting there is tension between him and reggae/dancehall artist, Ras Kuuku.

Responding to why Kinaata did not add Ras Kuuku to his upcoming Made in T’adi concert, he said the ‘Puom Soldier’ is not the only artist who has not been featured in the concert.

“I don’t have no problems with Ras Kuuku, check the fliers on my page, most artists are not there too,” he replied to listeners who sought to know the current state of their relationship.

This stems from Ras Kuuku’s statement that Kofi Kinaata took him off the ‘Effiakuma Love’ song after they [Kinaata’s management] had asked him to send his verse at the initial stage of the production.

Although Kofi Kinaata had explained he was not directly involved in that negotiation and that his manager did not keep him updated on the said feature, Ras Kuuku has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the supposed neglect.

In the meantime, Kofi Kinaata has announced his upcoming annual concert, Made in T’adi, is happening on December 21, 2024 at the Takoradi Sports Club.

Other artists on the bill are Samini, Donzi, Dhope Nation, Kwesi Flex, and Kwesi Amenuga, among others.

Moreover, Kofi Kinaata opened up about the motivation behind establishing a football club in his hometown.

Kofi Kinaata has had a stellar music career but has now ventured into football, setting up various clubs.

The artist expressed his desire to give back to his hometown and its people. As such, he went the extra mile to establish a football club.

“Effiakuma is a town in Takoradi. That’s where I was born, schooled, and did everything. It’s very significant to my life and who I am today, so I can’t leave them behind. I have a football team because I used to play football. We formed a team called Team Move FC.

“There’s the U12, I15, U17, and a second division side. They are playing in the league, and the goal is to have someone recognize these players and push them to wherever they need to go. If possible, I hope they play in the premier league and win trophies.”

Kofi Kinaata

While acknowledging that the idea of being a source of inspiration for others brings pressure, Kinaata noted that it also motivates him to strive harder for his community.
