Mercy Little Smith of Efiewura Fame Reportedly Passes On

Sad news has emerged from the Ghanaian entertainment industry, as reports indicate that Kumawood actress Mercy Little Smith, popularly known for her role in the iconic TV series ‘Efiewura’, has passed away.

According to sources, the beloved actress reportedly died in her sleep last night. While the official cause of her death remains unknown, fans and colleagues alike are mourning her untimely demise.

Mercy Little Smith, affectionately known as “Little,” made headlines last year when she shared how her curvaceous figure, particularly her prominent backside, had become a defining feature of her public image.

She humorously recounted how men’s reactions to her physique often led to unexpected situations.

Despite the attention, Little revealed that she often felt shy stepping out during the day due to her unique figure.

She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of the wife of renowned actor Kwame Dzokoto, who played Judge Koboo in ‘Efiewura’.

Her on-screen chemistry with Dzokoto made the show a hit, and her performance earned her a loyal fan base.

In addition to her role in ‘Efiewura’, Mercy Little Smith starred in numerous films and TV series, contributing significantly to the development of local Ghanaian television and film.

Her contributions to the Ghanaian film industry were significant, with memorable roles in movies such as ‘Will of the Gods’, ‘No Shaking’, ‘For Better For War’, and ‘Power of the Gods’.

Her versatile acting skills allowed her to take on a variety of roles, captivating audiences with her charm, humor, and talent.

The news of her death has sent shockwaves throughout the Ghanaian entertainment industry.

Colleagues, including actresses Gloria Sarfo and Vicky Zugah, Roselyn Ngissah amongst others have taken to social media to share their condolences and express their grief.

Fans, too, have flooded platforms with heartfelt messages, recalling her memorable performances and expressing sorrow for the loss of such a talented actress.

As of now, her family has yet to officially confirm the news of her passing.

Kwame Dzokoto Pens Emotional Tribute

Comedian and politician Kwame Dzokoto announced Little’s demise on social media.

He worked closely with the late actress and starred as her husband in the Efiewura TV series.

He shared a video from one of the episodes with Benyiwa with the caption: “Oh Benyiwa..! I will miss your off-camera nonsense talk. Sister Daa yie…!”

According to Kwame Dzokoto, Little fought so well to overcome her health condition, adding that God knew what was best at the time of her death.

“Da yie… Mercy Little Smith .. A. K. A. Benyiwa of Efiewura TV fame. I have lost my dear on the screen. Life is like a stage play and you’ve played your path. I don’t know how to break this story to the President elect… John Dramani Mahama. I know he will be in a shock mode with this news.

“He wanted you to overcome it. so when he heard the news about your condition…..he invested soo much on your bills, just to survive it. We are shattered. Ghana will always remember you on your memorable performances and the impact you’ve made on film and culture as an actress.”
