President Mahama Revokes Edward Koranteng’s Appointment as Minerals Fund CEO

In a significant administrative shake-up, President John Dramani Mahama has revoked the appointment of Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF). 

The announcement, made in an official letter, underscores the President’s intent to ensure effective management and oversight of critical national resources.   

“I write to formally inform you that H.E. John Dramani Mahama has revoked your appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund, effective immediately.”

The letter, signed by Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., Executive Secretary to the President, directed Mr. Koranteng to hand over his duties immediately to the President’s representative at the Ministry of Finance, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

Until a substantive CEO is appointed, Dr Forson will oversee the operations of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF).

The letter expressed gratitude to Mr. Koranteng for his service to the nation during his tenure as CEO, emphasizing the administration’s focus on aligning leadership positions with the government’s overarching goals.  

The revocation marks a critical move as the Mahama administration continues to fine-tune the leadership of key institutions to reflect its policy priorities.

Samuel Awuku Resigns as Director-General of the National Lottery Authority

In a related development, Samuel Awuku, Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has officially resigned from his position. 

His resignation, effective January 13, 2025, comes in the wake of his recent election as Member of Parliament for the Akuapem North constituency.

In his resignation letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr Awuku expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Director-General.

“I was appointed as Director General of the NLA in August 2021 and received confirmation from the Public Services Commission in July 2022. I kindly request that you appoint a replacement for the position of Director General to facilitate a smooth transition and handover of responsibilities.”

Highlighting his commitment to serving his constituents, Mr Awuku explained that his new parliamentary responsibilities require his undivided attention. 

He further requested the swift appointment of a replacement to ensure a smooth transition and effective management of the NLA.  

Mr Awuku, a seasoned political figure and public servant, wished President Mahama success in his administration and reaffirmed his commitment to national development through his legislative role.
