Spyro Experiences Career Setback After Collaborating with Davido

Spyro and Davido

Popular Nigerian Afrobeat star, Spyro, has disclosed that he experienced a career setback after collaborating with Davido and Mayorkun.

During a recent interview, Spyro explained that his collaboration with Davido would boost his career. Spyro featured Davido in 2018, in the remix version of his song ‘Funke’.

However, recounting the experience, the singer stated that despite the song’s initial success, he faced unexpected setbacks, including losing contact.

“I had a song back then that I had Davido and Mayorkun on it. I actually thought that my life was about to change. The song came out big, and I went back down all of a sudden. I sat down and thought about it because how do I go from working with Davido, vibing with Mayorkun and all those guys, and all of a sudden, they no longer even pick up your calls anymore.

” I would just sit down on my staircase back then and cry because I had my parents at home that I needed to take care of, and a lot of things were just going wrong.”

Spyro

The artist described the experience as emotionally devastating, admitting there were moments he felt abandoned by those he once worked closely with.

Spyro, who became famous in 2022 after the release of his hit song ‘Who Is Your Guy’, also has collaborative singles with Tiwa Savage and Simi.

He also took a swipe at some gospel artists, accusing them of prioritising money over genuine faith. “The people that claim to be gospel artists or gospel ministers are just artists — they’re in the business to make money just like us in the Afrobeats industry,” he said, with zero sugarcoating.

Spyro’s statement sparked conversations online, especially within the gospel community. Some called it facts, others said it’s too much generalization.

The “Who’s Your Guy” crooner also took a moment to address the pressure on female artists in the industry, praising Tems for keeping it classy without compromising.

“There is a lot of pressure on female artists to do crazy things. Tems is holding it down decently, yet she’s one of the biggest in the world right now. She has it together.”

Spyro

The artist believes Tems should be celebrated as a true role model for young girls, proving that success doesn’t require stripping down or selling out.

However, now the question is: is he calling for a gospel music reform, or just highlighting uncomfortable truths?

Spyro Shows off Interior of New Mansion

Spyro Shows off Interior of New Mansion
Spyro

The Nigerian singer wowed the internet as he showed off the interior of his mansion.

It was reported in February that Spyro was working on his third mansion, as he recalled how he started his career in a one-room apartment in Gbagada in 2018.

He said he had a dream of buying mansions and rebuilding to his taste, and though he had nothing, he had a deep conviction that God was able, and now, things have changed for good.

Spyro further noted that his life was a mess, literally to the extent that poverty used him to cook Efo Riro; Big God changed his story and gave him a new song.

Now, taking to his Instagram story to update fans on his new mansion, he showed off the interior of the house, which is quite impressive and fully furnished.

In his caption, Spyro said he sometimes felt like he was dreaming.

“Sometimes it feels like I am dreaming. Interiors are done by me for me. Dropping a video of the process in a bit. Now loud it and let the world know that my Jesus can actually take a man from abject poverty and make him super rich without demanding anything in return.”

Spyro

Early this year, Spyro threw shade at Ubi Franklin as he showed off his material possessions. He stated that God had been faithful to him without taking 10 percent, as he admonished upcoming artists that serving God pays.
