The Federation of Association of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) has paid a high-level courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House, affirming its full commitment to supporting his administration’s agenda for agricultural transformation, industrialisation, and enhanced exports.

The meeting, led by the Federation’s President, Mr. Davies Narh Korboe, was marked by a bold call for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to propel Ghana into becoming Africa’s premier agricultural export hub.

Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Korboe outlined the enormous strides made in Ghana’s non-traditional exports sector, revealing that export earnings had surged to an impressive five billion US dollars.

This growth, he emphasised, had not only boosted the country’s foreign exchange reserves but had also created sustainable livelihoods for thousands of farmers and workers across the country.

He highlighted the potential for even greater gains if key stakeholders align their efforts under President Mahama’s visionary leadership.

“If we work together, Your Excellency and drive our exports, we can sustain and stabilise the cedi and drive macroeconomic gains. The opportunity before us is limitless.”

Citing the President’s flagship 24-Hour Economy initiative, Mr. Korboe commended Mahama’s forward-thinking policies, describing them as the right foundation for industrial transformation.

He urged the government to treat Ghana as a “large agro-industrial enclave,” where principles of industrial ecology are employed to extract maximum value from agricultural production.

According to Mr. Korboe, this approach would require detailed product and raw material mapping, life cycle assessments of agricultural goods and value chains, and strategic management of industrial leakages.

“This is the time to act. Let us move beyond rhetoric to practical implementation. Let us position Ghana not just as a producer of raw materials, but as a value-adding processing and exporting powerhouse.”

Efficient Policy Implementation

He further stressed that through innovations, transformative approaches, sustainable practices, efficient policy implementation, and strategic infrastructure investments, Ghana could achieve remarkable growth in the global agricultural market.

Mr. Korboe noted that the Federation is prepared to work closely with the Mahama-led administration to realise this shared vision, highlighting the mutual benefits such collaboration would bring to the nation.

In a gesture of goodwill and collaboration, Mr. Korboe expressed his appreciation to the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah for his behind-the-scenes role in advancing presidential initiatives tied to export growth and agricultural development.

He concluded his remarks with an invitation to President Mahama to serve as Special Guest and keynote speaker at the upcoming Ghana Horticulture Expo scheduled for November 6, 2025.

The event is expected to draw 200 exhibitors and more than 3,000 trade visitors from around the world, further reinforcing Ghana’s place on the global agro-export map.

Mr. Korboe’s address reflected a profound sense of urgency and optimism, calling for a coordinated national effort to move Ghana up the value chain in agriculture.

He underscored the significance of leadership, innovation, and unity in ensuring that Ghana not only meets but exceeds its export potential.
