Chief Osei Bonsu, popularly known as Tulenkey in the showbiz industry, has revealed that he is confident of winning an award at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Tulenkey, who won the ‘Best Hiplife Song’ with his song ‘Bad Feelings’, said he was so confident as if event organisers, Charterhouse, gave him a hint. “Because I attract good things in whatever I’m doing,” he revealed.

He explained that his positive mindset inspired his confidence in whatever he’s involved with.

“I believe that I had won the award already before going to the event because if you think positively, the universe works for you. These are things which are not taught in schools about our mindset, and the more you’re negative, you push good things away from you. I was so confident that you might think someone working at Charter House or TGMA has given me a hint already, but that’s not it.”

The winner of the ‘Best Hiplife Song’ at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) also disclosed that people didn’t get the message behind his outlook at the awards night.

Tulenkey, who appeared to have concealed his mouth, revealed that he was portraying men who can’t speak in happy or sad moments.

“Most people didn’t get the message behind my outlook and gesture at the TGMA when I had a thing covering my mouth. Some people felt that this would be so uncomfortable for me to have covered or closed my mouth for all this time without talking.

“And those who were thinking this way should just imagine the number of men who’re not speaking despite their sufferings. I just had this covering my mouth for a few minutes or hours, but can you imagine the number of men who couldn’t speak their whole life, and some have died.”

According to him, men aren’t supposed to speak either in their happy or sad moments, adding, “That’s why when I won the award I couldn’t say anything,” he justified.

However, the Ghanaian musician stated that a lot of men are dying in silence for fear of being perceived as weak when they speak.

Explaining the message behind his new song ‘B33ma’, he said society doesn’t respect men who are weak and vulnerable.

“He My new song ‘B33ma’ goes out to all men who are going through tough times but can’t speak out because it is said that men don’t cry. Men are really suffering in silence and it is perceived that whatever that happens to a man he’s not supposed to voice out.

“A lot of men are going through a lot and hoarding things in them but can’t speak because society sees those who speak as weak men and vulnerable. Most men want to be respected in the society but most men who are vulnerable and weak easily lose their respect in our communities.”

Chief Osei Bonsu commended his colleague, Shatta Wale, for employing the jobless youth.

He said the partnership between Shatta Wale’s Shaxi and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is a good initiative for people to get jobs. “We always complain of unemployment in Ghana, so Shatta Wale is helping to get a lot of the guys employed through Shaxi,” he disclosed.

The rapper said Ghanaians should applaud Shatta Wale’s initiative.

“The same energy that people use to condemn and criticise Shatta Wale when he speaks his mind, let’s use the same energy to applaud him.”

Moreover, the rapper and songwriter said that only selfish and greedy Ghanaians are angry that the Dollar is depreciating.

The ‘Bad Feelings’ hitmaker said, though some of his earnings are in Dollars, he’s happy that the Ghana Cedis is appreciating recently.

“We, the musician,s our online streams are indeed paid in dollars, so my earnings are dropping due to the depreciation of the American Dollar. But despite this the Ghana cedis is also appreciating so if I go out to the supermarket I can afford to buy a lot with the little dollars I have.

“If you’re a musician or a Ghanaian and you’re angry that your Dollar has devalued, then you’re just being greedy and selfish and not thinking about the country. When the Dollar appreciates, it only benefits a few people, but when the Cedi appreciate,s it benefits a lot of Ghanaians.”
