The legal representative of Ghanaian gospel musician Empress Gifty has announced that he has forgiven Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, for her derogatory remarks referring to him as a “so-called lawyer.”
On 16 June 2025, lead counsel for Empress Gifty, Patrick Tawiah-Amprofi, issued a formal letter demanding an apology from Nana Agradaa.
The demand followed a viral social media video in which the controversial preacher mocked him by calling him a “so-called lawyer” following their initial court appearance.
In a fresh development, Mr Tawiah-Amprofi, speaking to the media after a court session, announced that both he and his law firm have decided to forgive the televangelist.
He noted that the preacher has shown remorse and issued an apology in a separate video, prompting them to retract the earlier demand.
“At our last appearance, I mentioned that Patricia Asiedua had made some defamatory remarks about me, which led to a formal request for an apology. I have since seen a video in which she apologised. I want to state that my law firm and I have forgiven her.”

Also, Empress Gifty’s legal team confirmed that Nana Agradaa had filed a motion at the Tema High Court seeking to transfer the ongoing case to the Eastern Region.
Agradaa’s lawyers argued that the frequent travel from Nsawam to Accra posed a logistical challenge for their client, who is currently serving a prison sentence.
Empress Gifty, in May 2025, filed a GH¢20 million defamation suit against the preacher, accusing her of making vulgar and damaging false claims, including allegations of promiscuity and bestiality, during a live social media broadcast.
In June, the Tema High Court dismissed her motion to strike out the case, ordering her to pay GH¢6,000 in costs, and confirmed the defamation case will proceed despite her concurrent 15-year prison sentence for fraud.
Kumchacha Rebukes Sympathizers of Agradaa

Popular Ghanaian preacher, Nicholas Osei, widely known as Kumchacha, weighed in on the conversation on whether Agradaa should be pardoned by the state and released from jail.
In a video, the renowned kicked against such requests, arguing that she was not better than people serving their sentences in Nsawam and the other prisons.
He believes the televangelist is paying for her crimes and should be made to serve her sentence, once she has been found guilty by the court.
In his video, Kumchacha rebuked persons sympathising with her, stating that she would have rejoiced if this had been the fate of another person.
Kumchacha recalled how the controversial televangelist jubilated at the demise of a young man, who previously criticised her on social media.
“People are saying that Agradaa has children, so she should be spared. Didn’t Adwenpahene also have children? But Agradaa rejoiced when he passed away and left behind a wife and his five children.”

Additionally, he stated that Agradaa does not deserve any mercy, given how she treated Empress Gifty before her sentencing. “Empress Gifty, like Agradaa, has children too. But Agradaa hurled insults at her and called her all sorts of names,” he said.

Meanwhile, a Ghanaian woman opened up about why she misses the embattled Ghanaian televangelist.
In a video, she explained that she misses the former traditional priestess because she used to be a source of entertainment for Ghanaians before her sentencing.
Speaking specifically about what she misses most, the woman said that Ghanaians no longer get interesting TikTok sounds.
Agradaa’s sounds, especially from her Sunday sermons, went viral on social media. Many people found her statements during preaching humorous and entertaining.
She, therefore, appealed to the state to temper justice with mercy and pardon Agradaa.
