This marked the first time Professor Opoku-Agyemang performed the ceremonial task on behalf of the Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, President John Dramani Mahama, who is currently outside the country on official duties.
Speaking after the ceremony, the Vice President, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Armed Forces Council, used the occasion to commend the nation’s security services, underscoring their commitment to professional standards and national security.

The Change of Guard ceremony, held every three months, serves as a powerful symbol of the peaceful and disciplined transfer of security responsibility for the Presidency.
The precision drills and the impressive trooping of the band reflected the high professional standards upheld by the armed forces. The full army band provided musical accompaniment, blending a variety of popular traditional tunes with the festive flavour of Christmas carols, adding a unique touch to the display of military discipline.
The Vice President extended heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing Ghana Navy guard for their dedicated and professional service.
