GoldBod Jewellery Limited has clarified that its involvement in the recent Women of Valour event organized by media personality Nana Aba Anamoah was strictly promotional and did not involve any financial sponsorship.
The company issued the clarification following public debate on social media after its name appeared on promotional materials as a partner for the event. The development prompted questions from some commentators who speculated that the jewellery company had financially supported the programme.
In its response, GoldBod Jewellery explained that its participation was limited to a marketing initiative designed to promote locally made jewellery. According to the company, the arrangement involved offering discounted jewellery purchases to participants who attended the event.

GoldBod emphasized that the initiative was not intended to fund the conference but rather to support the promotion of Ghanaian made products.

The issue gained attention shortly after the 2026 edition of the Women of Valour event took place in London on March 7. A promotional flyer circulating online listed GoldBod Jewellery among the event’s partners, leading to speculation about the nature of the partnership.
Some social media users questioned why a company associated with Ghana’s gold sector appeared to be sponsoring a privately organized event led by a media personality.
Others called for greater transparency about partnerships involving companies connected to national resources or public institutions, particularly when such events are held outside the country.
The discussion quickly spread across various social media platforms, with several users asking whether public funds had been used to support the programme.
Company Explains Promotional Campaign
According to GoldBod Jewellery, its participation in the event formed part of a broader promotional campaign undertaken during Ghana Heritage Month.
The company explained that the initiative was designed to highlight Ghana’s gold craftsmanship and encourage patronage of locally produced jewellery.

By partnering with the event through product promotions, the company said it aimed to introduce Ghanaian jewellery designs to a wider international audience, including members of the Ghanaian diaspora and other participants attending the programme.
GoldBod stressed that the arrangement focused entirely on marketing and brand promotion rather than financial sponsorship of the event.
Nana Aba Anamoah Responds
Amid the online debate, Nana Aba Anamoah also addressed the growing attention surrounding the event and the questions raised about its partnerships.
The broadcaster acknowledged that the conversation had generated significant public interest and indicated that the reactions reflected the growing visibility of the Women of Valour initiative.
Her comments drew mixed responses from social media users. Some supporters defended the event and praised its mission of empowering women, while others argued that clearer communication about partnerships would help avoid similar controversies in the future.
The Women of Valour programme was founded by Nana Aba Anamoah as a platform to highlight stories of resilience, leadership and personal growth among women.
Over the years, the initiative has evolved into a prominent gathering that brings together influential women from media, business, politics and other sectors. Participants typically share personal experiences and professional insights aimed at inspiring young women and professionals.

The event is often organized around the period leading up to International Women’s Day and focuses on themes of leadership, mentorship and self development.
The 2026 edition held in London attracted participants from Ghana and the diaspora community, including entrepreneurs, media professionals and individuals working across various industries.
Broader Conversation on Partnerships
The discussion surrounding the event has also triggered a wider conversation about corporate partnerships and transparency in high profile programmes.
Industry observers note that collaborations between companies and event organizers are common, especially when businesses seek opportunities to promote products or expand brand visibility.
However, analysts also point out that clearly communicating the nature of such partnerships is important in order to prevent misunderstandings among the public.
GoldBod Jewellery maintains that its involvement in the Women of Valour event was purely promotional and did not involve financial sponsorship.
Despite the clarification, the episode illustrates how public scrutiny on social media continues to shape conversations around corporate involvement in major events and the expectations of transparency from organizations operating in the public space.
