Construction of a new ultra-modern concourse linking Terminals 2 and 3 is set to begin this month, alongside plans for a multi-storey car park, airport hotel, and expanded commercial facilities.

At the centre of the Accra International Airport expansion is the construction of a modern concourse designed to connect Terminals 2 and 3 and optimise passenger flow.The facility will include five passenger boarding bridges, five holding areas, bi-directional travelators, escalators and elevators, as well as a VIP lounge, business lounges, and retail outlets.

Authorities say the project is critical to addressing congestion at Terminal 3, particularly during peak hours, while improving the utilisation of Terminal 2. The integration of both terminals is expected to enhance operational efficiency and deliver a smoother travel experience for passengers.

Parking, Petail, and Hospitality Expansion

Beyond the concourse, the Accra International Airport expansion includes a seven-storey car park with capacity for 2,000 vehicles, a significant upgrade from the current 513-space facility, which often becomes congested.The project also introduces a strong commercial component, including a 4,000-square-metre retail space featuring shops, restaurants, and duty-free outlets.

A sky-view lounge is planned to allow visitors observe aircraft take-offs and landings.Additionally, GACL plans to construct a dual-purpose airport hotel comprising a 250-room budget facility and a 120-room luxury hotel to accommodate transit passengers and those affected by delays.
