Ghanaian actor and comedian Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, widely known as Dr. Likee, Ras Nene or Akabenezer, has opened up about his career journey, creative evolution, industry relationships and upcoming international performance.
Speaking in a recent interview, the comedian reflected on his rise from Kumawood actor to one of Ghana’s most recognisable comic figures, highlighting the key moments that shaped his career.
“I thank God for how far he has brought me, and it is overwhelming”, he acknowledged. Dr. Likee began his acting career in 2009, where he was often cast in gangster or villain roles in Kumawood films.
His early years in the industry were defined by these intense characters, which helped him build a foundation as a performer. However, in 2012, he made a significant shift into comedy, a move that would later redefine his career path.
Despite the transition, it was not until 2020 that he gained widespread popularity, largely driven by viral skits that resonated with audiences across social media platforms. His unique comedic style, often rooted in everyday Ghanaian experiences, quickly earned him a loyal fan base.
Beyond his on-screen presence, Dr. Likee emphasised the importance of continuous self-improvement, explaining that much of his growth has come from intentional learning and refining his craft behind the scenes.
According to him, when he is not producing skits, he spends time studying and developing new ideas to stay relevant in an ever-evolving entertainment industry. This commitment to growth, he noted, has been a key factor in sustaining his success over the years.
Songwriting and Industry Connections
Beyond acting and comedy, Dr. Likee disclosed his involvement in music, revealing that he has contributed as a songwriter for several notable Ghanaian artistes, further showcasing his versatility within the creative industry.
“I have written 3 songs for Shatta Wale and Kakai is one of them. I also wrote Balenciaga for O’Kenneth”

The revelation highlights another dimension of his artistry, positioning him not only as a performer but also as a creative force working behind the scenes in Ghana’s music landscape.
He also acknowledged rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal for his support, describing him as a brother and a key figure in his journey within the entertainment space.
Dr. Likee further disclosed that award-winning rapper Michael Owusu Addo aka Sarkodie has met him in the studio on multiple occasions. However, despite these encounters, a collaboration between the two has not yet materialised, leaving room for anticipation among fans.
UK Show
The comedian also announced an upcoming international comedy show scheduled to take place at O2 Indigo on May 22, 2026, marking another milestone in his expanding global presence.

“The show is a standard comedy and other comedians such as Akrobeto, OB Amponsah, Nana Ama McBrown and Vivian Jill will be performing. Musicians like O’Kenneth, Jay Bahd, Wendy Shay and Medikal will perform”

He added that tickets for the event are currently available to the public. “The ticket for the show is 30 pounds and 70 pounds and is being sold on the shups.com,” he stated.
Dr. Likee used the opportunity to encourage fans, particularly mothers, to attend the show with their families, emphasising the crucial role they play in his success and continued relevance. “Without the mothers. I am not Dr. Likee,” he stated.
The actor noted that the upcoming show is designed to give audiences a deeper understanding of his personality and creative journey beyond what is typically seen in skits and films.
He explained that the performance will reflect his real-life experiences and comedic style, offering fans a more immersive and personal connection to his brand.
With a career spanning over a decade, Dr. Likee continues to expand his influence within Ghana’s entertainment industry and beyond. Through comedy, acting and music, he has built a multifaceted career that resonates with diverse audiences both locally and internationally.

As he prepares for his London performance, his journey reflects not only personal growth but also the increasing global reach of Ghanaian comedy and entertainment.
