The 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is shifting momentum to the Eastern Region today, Saturday, April 11, 2026, as Koforidua hosts the highly anticipated TGMA Xperience Concert.
The free-to-the-public event is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm at the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre Stadium and serves as the final major roadshow ahead of the main awards ceremony set for May 9.
Organised by Charterhouse Productions, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards remains Ghana’s premier annual music event, celebrating outstanding achievements across the country’s music industry. Over the years, the Xperience Concert has evolved into one of the most significant side events of the TGMA festival, complementing the main awards night with live performances and fan engagement activities.
“We believe this will present a rare opportunity for some of these residents in the Eastern Region to see some of their favourite musicians perform live on one stage without having to travel to Accra”
Robert Klah,Head of Public Events &Communications, Charterhouse
The roadshow has undergone notable transformation over the years. Historically, Charterhouse organised pre-event activities such as the “Nominees Jam” and “Pre-Parties,” which served as build-up events to the main ceremony. However, these have since been rebranded into the more immersive Xperience Concert format, designed to bring fans closer to their favourite artistes.
The Xperience Concert has since become a key feature of the awards calendar, offering fans across different regions the opportunity to experience live performances without travelling to the capital.
Previous editions of the concert have been hosted in cities such as Ho (2023), Cape Coast (2024), and Takoradi (2025), drawing large crowds and boosting local entertainment economies.
Battleground for Artiste of the Year
Beyond its role as a fan engagement platform, the Koforidua edition is expected to serve as a critical performance stage for artistes competing for top honours, particularly the Artiste of the Year category.
Headlining acts including Stonebwoy, Medikal, Wendy Shay and Piesie Esther are expected to deliver performances aimed at strengthening their connection with fans ahead of the final voting period.

With public voting playing a significant role in determining winners, such performances often double as campaign platforms, allowing artistes to showcase their stagecraft and influence audience perception.
The performance lineup and event details have been officially promoted through the TGMA website and its social media platforms, further building anticipation for the concert.
Charterhouse’s decision to host the event in Koforidua underscores a broader strategy to decentralise Ghana’s entertainment landscape. By rotating host cities annually, the organisers aim to ensure that music fans across the country have equal access to live performances.
This approach challenges what industry observers have described as an “Accra monopoly,” where major entertainment events are often concentrated in the capital.
According to Robert Klah, Head of Corporate Communications at Charterhouse, the initiative is designed to deepen engagement with audiences nationwide and extend the reach of the TGMA brand beyond Accra.
The platform also provides exposure for emerging talents, particularly nominees in the Unsung Category, who are given the opportunity to perform alongside established artistes.

Corporate and Traditional Support
The event has also received backing from both corporate stakeholders and traditional authorities, highlighting its significance within the region.
A leadership team from Telecel Ghana recently paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of New Juaben, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, as well as the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Awatey, to formally engage them on the initiative and secure support for the event.
The collaboration reflects a growing synergy between corporate institutions, traditional leadership and the creative arts sector in promoting cultural and entertainment activities.
As anticipation builds toward the main awards ceremony on May 9, the Koforidua Xperience Concert is expected to play a crucial role in setting the tone for the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
With a blend of star-studded performances, regional inclusion and fan-driven energy, the event continues to reinforce its place as a central pillar of the TGMA calendar.
For fans in the Eastern Region and beyond, tonight’s concert offers not only entertainment but also a chance to be part of one of Ghana’s most celebrated music traditions.
