In a historic and heartwarming moment, global K-pop superstars BTS stood alongside Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaumon the balcony of the National Palace (Palacio Nacional) on May 6, 2026, greeting an estimated 50,000 ecstatic fans gathered in the historic Zócalo square.
The appearance came after the septet RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook met privately with President Sheinbaum.
Dressed in coordinated black and light suits, the members waved, made finger hearts, and captured the moment on their phones as the massive crowd erupted in cheers, tears, and fan chants.
Many ARMY (BTS fans) had gathered for hours after the president’s office announced the visit.
RM addressed the crowd in Spanish, saying, “Los amo, los adoro. ¡Muchas gracias!” (I love you, I adore you. Thank you so much!), while other members echoed the sentiment in both Spanish and English. “ The energy here is incredible,” they told fans, promising an unforgettable show the following day.

President Sheinbaum, who posed with the group and their latest album Arirang, later hinted at a possible return in 2027.
The event highlights BTS’s enduring popularity in Mexico, where K-pop has surged into the mainstream. This marks the group’s fourth visit to Mexico City for concerts, following earlier stops in 2014, 2015, and 2017.
The band is currently on its highly anticipated BTS World Tour ‘ARIRANG’, with three sold-out shows scheduled at Estadio GNP Seguros on May 7, 9, and 10.
