The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that its 32nd Ordinary Congress will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The annual gathering, which is one of the most important events on the football calendar, will bring together delegates and stakeholders from across the country to assess the state of the game and chart a course for the upcoming season.
The decision was communicated in accordance with the Association’s governing regulations, with the football governing body stating that the date had been fixed “in line with Article 31(2) of its Statutes.”
Congress serves as the highest decision-making platform of the Association and provides an opportunity for members to review activities undertaken over the past year while discussing key policies and initiatives aimed at advancing football development in Ghana.
Key Decisions and Strategic Discussions Expected
This year’s Congress is expected to feature extensive deliberations on several critical areas affecting the domestic game, including competitions, governance, youth development, infrastructure, and long-term strategic planning.

According to the GFA, the gathering will serve as “a major platform for reflection, planning, and decision-making ahead of the new football season,” with stakeholders expected to examine progress made across various sectors of the sport.
Representatives from clubs, regional football associations, technical bodies, and other football institutions are anticipated to participate in discussions that will shape the direction of Ghana football in the coming months.
The meeting will also allow members to evaluate existing programmes and identify practical solutions to challenges facing the sport at both the grassroots and elite levels.
In line with statutory requirements, members of the Association have already received notification of the Congress to enable them to make the necessary arrangements before the event.
The GFA further indicated that detailed documentation relating to the Congress will be distributed ahead of the meeting. “A formal convocation containing the agenda, activity reports, financial statements, and auditors’ report will be circulated prior to the Congress,” the Association said in its statement.
Opportunity for Stakeholder Engagement
Beyond the formal business of Congress, the event is expected to create a valuable forum for engagement between the GFA leadership and the wider football fraternity.
The Executive Council will have the opportunity to interact directly with club officials, technical experts, administrators, and delegates on matters affecting the growth and sustainability of the game.

The Association noted that the full-day session will provide a platform “for the Executive Council to engage with club representatives, Technical officials, and stakeholders to review progress made and address key challenges affecting the sport.”
Such engagements are expected to foster greater collaboration among football stakeholders while ensuring that concerns from various sectors of the game are heard and considered.
The Congress comes at a time when the GFA continues to pursue initiatives aimed at improving football administration, enhancing competitions, and expanding development programmes throughout the country.
As preparations gather momentum, the Association has called on delegates to be fully prepared for constructive discussions that will contribute to the continued growth of the sport.
The GFA has also encouraged all delegates to prepare adequately for the productive engagements and Congress, as the Association continues its efforts to strengthen and develop football across all levels in Ghana.
The 32nd Ordinary Congress is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping policy decisions and setting priorities for the next phase of football development in Ghana, with stakeholders eager to contribute ideas that will help elevate the game nationwide.
