The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has launched a targeted economic diplomacy campaign across major Canadian commercial hubs to capture North American foreign direct investment and establish long-term trade partnerships aligned with Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Invest Ghana Business Roundtable and Exhibition recently concluded its inaugural session in Montreal, drawing together international investors, corporate executives, and institutional stakeholders to explore commercial prospects within the West African sub-region.

This entire series of business forums is engineered to showcase Ghana’s stable investment climate and secure strategic commitments across critical growth sectors, anchored to the global momentum surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup, utilizing the international sports spotlight to maximize visibility and deepen engagement with top-tier global business leaders.

“The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Mr. Abdul Razak Baba, engaged participants on Ghana’s investment landscape, highlighting opportunities across key sectors including agribusiness, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, and technology”

He noted that the government is capitalizing on heightened international mobility and global media cycles to ensure that the country remains a top-of-mind destination for global capital, staging the roundtable sessions in major metropolitan areas, to convert sports-driven international attention into concrete, legally binding corporate alliances that will inject fresh capital into domestic industries.

Addressing the roundtable participants, Mr. Baba’s presentation emphasized that these sectors – agribusiness, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, and technology – are uniquely positioned for expansion and offer streamlined entry processes for Canadian firms looking to establish a secure operational base in West Africa.

The operational integration of Ghana’s investment organs was further underscored by the presence and active participation of Dr. Mary Awusi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA).

She indicated the state’s readiness to offer integrated regulatory support, specialized tax incentives, and dedicated industrial enclaves for export-oriented manufacturing enterprises.

Combining the investment facilitation of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre with the regulatory framework of the Free Zones Authority, the delegation presented a unified institutional pipeline designed to de-risk foreign capital entry and ensure smooth corporate setups for international entrepreneurs.

Bi-National Diplomatic Endorsements

According to the GIPC, the roundtable featured strong diplomatic support from both nations, emphasizing the strength of bilateral relations between Accra and Ottawa.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, H.E. Prof. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, and Canada’s High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Myriam Montrat, both delivered formal remarks validating the timeliness and strategic importance of the forum.

The dual diplomatic endorsement highlighted a mutual commitment to shifting bilateral relations beyond standard aid frameworks toward deep, market-driven trade and investment cooperation that benefits both economies.

Following the close of the sessions in Montreal, the promotional effort has continued to build momentum through targeted media channels. In an official brief reflecting on the initial outcomes of the roundtable, High Commissioner Prof. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh extended a formal invitation to North American investors to actively explore Ghana’s commercial landscape.

She noted that the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre is fully equipped to serve as an institutional guide, providing end-to-end administrative support, regulatory navigation, and investor aftercare to protect and facilitate foreign assets throughout their operational lifecycle.

The successful conclusion of the Montreal roundtable marks only the beginning of this targeted economic mobilization across North America, as Ghana’s investment apparatus is treating the Canadian tour as a continuous, sequential campaign, with the next major forum already officially scheduled to take place in Toronto.

Moving the exhibition to Ontario’s capital will allow the Ghanaian delegation to interface directly with Canada’s primary financial center, banking networks, and global asset management firms, further extending the strategic discussions initiated during the Quebec sessions.

The transition to the Toronto forum will see a continued focus on establishing long-term public-private sector partnerships. Government representatives, investment officers, and corporate executives will look to build on the relationships established in Montreal, focusing on how Canadian capital can be channeled into sustainable development projects.

Maintaining a continuous presence in Canada’s key economic hubs during this high-visibility period, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and its partner state agencies are positioning the country as a competitive, transparent, and rewarding destination for international agribusiness, technology, and manufacturing investments.
