The New Patriotic Party has confirmed the alleged arrest of Dennis Miracles Boakye following his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport. The party said its leadership would march to the Economic and Organised Crime Office to demand access to him and seek answers over the circumstances surrounding his detention.
The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Henry Nana Boakye has alleged that the arrest is part of a politically motivated attempt to intimidate both Dennis Miracles Boakye and the opposition party. According to him, the party finds it difficult to understand why one of its leading communicators would be detained despite having no history of evading official invitations.

Addressing the development, Boakye argued that Dennis Miracles Boakye has consistently made himself available whenever required and would never deliberately ignore a lawful invitation. From his perspective, the circumstances surrounding the arrest raise questions about the motives behind the action.
The National Organiser further asserted that Dennis Miracles Boakye remains one of the government’s outspoken critics and suggested that his political views should never become grounds for arrest. In his view, state institutions should discharge their duties without creating the impression of targeting political opponents.
“Miracle is known. He will never ignore an invitation. We know him. He is one of the major critics of this government. Is that the reason why you are arresting him?”

Furthermore, Boakye described the incident as another example of what the party believes is political harassment directed at members of the opposition. He argued that such actions would strengthen the resolve of party supporters instead of weakening their commitment.
The NPP National Organiser also contended that the alleged use of state institutions against opposition figures undermines confidence in democratic governance. Against this backdrop, he indicated that the party would continue speaking out whenever it believes constitutional rights are under pressure.

Additionally, Henry Nana Boakye disclosed that party officials visited the Economic and Organised Crime Office after learning about the arrest. He said they were unable to gain access to Dennis Miracles Boakye despite efforts to establish contact with officials.
“We went there and they were not cooperative. We need to know whether he has eaten, where he is and whether he is in good health.”

According to him, the party intends to return to the Economic and Organised Crime Office to pursue further information about the detained communicator. The National Organiser added that ensuring his welfare remains an immediate priority for the party.
Moreover, Henry Nana Boakye stressed that the New Patriotic Party would not be discouraged by developments surrounding the arrest. He added that the planned visit to the Economic and Organised Crime Office demonstrates the party’s determination to seek clarity through lawful means.
Conformation Of Arrest Of Party’s Member
Henry Nana Boakye also alleged that repeated attempts to reach officials at the Economic and Organised Crime Office have yielded no access to the party communicator. According to him, the inability of lawyers and party representatives to see Dennis Miracles Boakye has deepened calls for transparency.
Addressing the circumstances leading to the arrest, Henry Nana Boakye explained that Dennis Miracles Boakye had travelled outside Ghana and returned through the Kotoka International Airport before he was intercepted by immigration officers. He added that the immigration officers later handed him over to operatives of the Economic and Organised Crime Office.

According to the National Organiser, neither the party nor Dennis Miracles Boakye received any prior invitation from the Economic and Organised Crime Office before his arrival. From his standpoint, a formal invitation would have provided the appropriate avenue for any investigative process.
“Miracle has not received any invitation. He has not been informed of any wrongdoing. We are demanding his immediate release.”
Henry Nana Boakye
Furthermore, Henry Nana Boakye stated that Dennis Miracles Boakye is a public figure whose daily activities are widely known, making it unnecessary to apprehend him upon arrival in the country. He argued that the communicator regularly appears in public and has never hidden from public institutions.
The National Organiser also asserted that the party supports lawful investigations whenever credible issues arise. Nevertheless, he insisted that investigations should follow established legal procedures that uphold fairness and respect individual rights.
In addition, Henry Nana Boakye questioned the growing practice of arresting individuals immediately after they arrive at the airport without prior notice. He argued that such actions create uncertainty and fuel public debate over the application of due process.
He also remarked that authorities could have issued a written invitation if Dennis Miracles Boakye was required to assist with investigations. In his view, an invitation followed by voluntary cooperation would have served the same purpose while preserving confidence in the process.

“If he was needed for investigations, they could have invited him. He travelled and returned on his own, yet he was arrested immediately on arrival.”

Moreover, Henry Nana Boakye argued that accountability remains an essential principle in every democracy and acknowledged that no individual is above lawful investigation. The focus, however, rested on ensuring that investigative powers are exercised in a manner that inspires public confidence.
The National Organiser further alleged that the latest development reinforces the party’s long held position that some state institutions are being used against members of the opposition. He indicated that the New Patriotic Party would continue demanding immediate access to Dennis Miracles Boakye while awaiting an official explanation from the relevant authorities.
