The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) is set to launch a nationwide Regional Taekwondo Awareness Campaign aimed at taking the sport beyond its traditional urban centres and identifying young talents with the potential to become future champions.
The campaign, dubbed Talent is Everywhere, will officially begin on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, marking the start of a regional tour across five historically under-resourced regions, beginning from the Ashanti Region.
The initiative will cover other regions; the Northern, Upper West, Bono and Central as the GTF seeks to widen access to Taekwondo and create opportunities for young people who may have limited exposure to the sport.
Through the campaign, the Federation intends to identify youngsters with the physical attributes, discipline, determination and passion required to pursue Taekwondo at a competitive level.
The initiative is built around the belief that sporting talent exists in every part of Ghana but can remain undiscovered when young people lack access to facilities, coaches and structured development programmes.
Taking Taekwondo directly into communities taps into the hopes of GTF to establish a stronger grassroots pathway capable of producing athletes who can progress from local competition to regional, continental and international levels.
Building a Grassroots Pipeline for Future Champions
The campaign comes at a time when the GTF continues to promote Taekwondo through competitions and development activities across the country.
The Federation recently collaborated with the Korean Embassy in the organisation of the 16th Korean Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Championship, held at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra in August.

The championship provided a platform for young athletes to compete, gain valuable experience and showcase their abilities in one of Ghana’s major Taekwondo events.
The new regional campaign will take that grassroots development approach a step further by moving the search for talent into communities that have historically had fewer opportunities to participate in organised Taekwondo.
The GTF’s message, “Promoting Taekwondo, Inspiring Champions,” underlines the broader objective of the initiative. Beyond discovering athletes, the Federation wants to use Taekwondo to inspire young people through discipline, dedication, physical development and competitive sport.
The Federation believes that with appropriate exposure, coaching and support, talents discovered in the regions can develop into athletes capable of representing Ghana on regional, continental and global stages.
The campaign also provides an opportunity for parents, schools, youth groups, coaches and community stakeholders to become part of the sport’s development. Their involvement could be important in ensuring that promising youngsters identified during the campaign receive the necessary support to continue their Taekwondo journey.
With Kumasi serving as the starting point, the GTF hopes the regional tour will create greater awareness of Taekwondo while establishing a broader and more inclusive talent pool for Ghana.
The Federation is therefore encouraging young athletes, parents, community members and other stakeholders in Kumasi and beyond to attend the launch on September 25 and support its effort to make Taekwondo more accessible across the country.
