Kodal Minerals PLC has signed a binding agreement with GH Geo-Consult Limited to earn up to an 80 per cent interest in the Asamankese Lithium Project located in Ghana’s Eastern Region.
Spanning a 156-square-kilometre area within the Birimian geological sequence, the site sits approximately 75 kilometres by road from Accra, allowing the London-listed company to extend its West African footprint beyond its producing Bougouni operation in Mali.
“Exploration to date has identified well-developed pegmatite trends at Amantra and Nfranta, with high-grade rock-chip sampling returning up to 3.02% Li₂O. Our ongoing field programme is focused on refining target zones to guide our upcoming reconnaissance diamond drilling, with the results guiding the next stages of exploration.”
Mr Bernard Aylward, Chief Executive Officer of Kodal Minerals
The acquisition kicked off with an initial 10 per cent stake purchased for US$300,000, establishing a foundation for a staged investment programme spanning five years.

Historical rock-chip sampling revealed grades of up to 3.02 per cent lithium oxide, while Kodal’s own preliminary sampling confirmed high-grade spodumene mineralisation with assays reaching up to 2.49 per cent lithium oxide.
Furthermore, “95 of 164 samples” returned values exceeding 1.0 per cent, prompting the appointment of Mr Abdul-Razak Shaih Ballah as Country Manager in Ghana alongside a specialized local geological team to manage upcoming field operations and community relations.
Strategic Expansion into the Birimian Belt
The decision to acquire an interest in the Asamankese deposit reflects a calculated move by mining executives to secure high-potential assets within West Africa’s highly prospective Birimian geological formations.
Ghana’s Eastern Region offers established infrastructure close to the national capital, reducing logistical bottlenecks typically associated with remote greenfield sites.

By leveraging its operational insights from the Bougouni Lithium Project developed alongside Hainan Mining Company Limited, Kodal seeks to accelerate resource delineation efficiently.
Industry analysts note that geographic diversification is vital for mid-tier miners seeking to mitigate single-jurisdiction risk.
The staged investment model minimizes initial capital exposure, allowing the firm to evaluate geological data progressively across six-month, 24-month, and 30-month milestones.
These phases progress from early exploratory drilling toward an initial mineral resource estimate and, ultimately, a definitive feasibility study that satisfies rigorous international standards for mineral asset valuation.
Prospecting Amantra and Nfranta Priority Zones
Field investigations have successfully isolated two high-priority targets, designated as Amantra and Nfranta, which exhibit exceptional surface expressions of lithium-bearing pegmatites.
Amantra represents an expansive pegmatite system characterized by coarse to very coarse-grained spodumene mineralisation visible directly in outcropping rock, boasting an initial mapped strike length exceeding three kilometres.
Meanwhile, Nfranta has been outlined as a complex zone of multiple pegmatite veins extending over a strike length of more than four kilometres.

These parallel structures feature interpreted northwest-dipping veins that remain entirely open along strike, signaling substantial upside potential for resource expansion during upcoming subsurface testing.
Under Stage One terms, a local drilling contractor has been appointed to execute intensive diamond drilling programmes backed by minimum financial expenditures totalling US$1.25 million.
This localized drilling campaign aims to intercept high-grade mineralised shoots at depth, providing structural continuity data necessary to feed directly into future resource models.
Securing Critical Minerals for the Global Energy Transition
The global transition toward clean energy technologies has triggered an unprecedented surge in demand for critical battery raw materials, placing lithium at the forefront of international mining investments.
West Africa is rapidly emerging as a premier global province for hard-rock lithium production, driven by favorable geological terranes and progressive mining codes.
Establishing a robust foothold in Ghana aligns with broader continental industrialization strategies aimed at integrating local economies deeper into the international electric vehicle supply chain.

By partnering with GH Geo-Consult Limited, Kodal ensures strong local collaboration, combining international capital markets expertise with indigenous geological knowledge and community stakeholder engagement.
This collaborative framework is essential for modern resource development, ensuring environmental compliance and social license to operate from early-stage exploration through to commercial production.
As field crews mobilize ahead of upcoming drilling milestones, Asamankese stands poised to become a cornerstone asset in shaping Ghana’s burgeoning extractive industrial landscape.
