John Dramani Mahama Tours Greater Accra

Former President John Dramani Mahama has disparaged the Akufo-Addo-led-government and New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its fondness of shifting blame on others for the economic woes in the country.

John Dramani Mahama avers that the government, despite being in office since 2017, has decided not to accept any form of responsibility for Ghana’s economic challenges.

It is well known that the NPP government has ceaselessly attributed the current economic crisis in the country, to the Russia–Ukraine war and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Akufo-Addo administration in a bid to get the country’s economy back on track, is seeking for a 3 billion-dollar bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

As John Dramani Mahama spoke to delegates at Ayawaso Central and Ayawaso West Wougon constituencies, as part of his Greater Accra regional tour, he labeled the NPP’s move to always blame the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ghana’s economic problem, as laughable.

“This NPP government likes shifting blame to everything, except themselves. Anything that goes bad is either COVID-19 or Russia-Ukraine war. Or they say we make too much noise and money doesn’t like noise ‘sika mp3 dede’, even after seven years in office. The other day, I was reading somewhere and somebody said the economy is bad because of Mahama. After 7 years, Mahama is still the name on your tongue?”

NPP National Youth Organizer Encourages Mahama To Stop Making ‘Reckless’ Statements And Learn From Akufo-Addo

Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), says former President John Dramani Mahama must learn from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and desist from making statements that incite supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress to act violently.

The NPP National Youth Organizer in an interview, condemned some recent comments made by the former President before his supporters and members of the NDC. He alluded to John Dramani Mahama’s “do or die” comments which, to him, are incendiary and don’t befit a former President.

“I have no doubt that NDC will win the 2024 elections. So, the vote will be a do or die affair and we will be matching them boot to boot at the polling station,” John Dramani Mahama said during his campaign tour in Bono Region.

Salam Mustapha noted that a leader is expected to be decorous in behaviour, something he claims President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has shown and ended up earning huge respects from the masses, following his apology for his “all-die-be-die” comments; prior to the 2016 elections, which sparked controversies.

“When you are a leader, your character and behaviour will tell your level of value. So, when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo did that, his appreciation and level of respect increased. That’s why I thought that the former President, John Dramani Mahama, will be learning from Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and not be reckless in his comments…The reckless one is the ‘boot for boot, ‘do or die’ because this is not a Bible quotation that you are preaching to your followers…It is a call to violence.”

Salam Mustapha

To the NPP National Youth Organizer, if the former President and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not refrain from making seditious statements, he claims that they should not expect the governing New Patriotic Party to kowtow to any of them.
