Among the range of issues featured on the Delay Show, broadcaster Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has stated emphatically that he is not bitter despite his constant attack on the Akuffo-Addo government.

During the interview, Delay sought to explore if there was any other reason behind his attacks on the NPP government.

She asked:

“Is it not the case that because you campaigned for them, you expected something juicy when they came to power but they have sidelined you hence your constant attacks on the government?”.

He responded by disclosing his relationship with the Chief of Staff:

“What people don’t know is that I’ve been with Akuffo-Addo at least twice at private meetings. Frema Opare is my mother; she’s from Wiamoase and I’m an Asante Agona Oyokohene, and I have unfettered access to her.

“However, I never went with my CV seeking to even be the PRO of a toilet facility or to speak. It appears everybody’s mind is connected to their stomach; mine is not like that. Nobody in the political landscape can ever say I have been to their offices for favors. My interest is, you should create the enabling environment; I have a mind of my own to make money from my sweat”.

The media personality, Okatakyie Afrifa, was one of the individuals who angrily criticized the John Mahama government and campaigned for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which had Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo as its flagbearer during the 2016 elections.

Okatakyie has not held back his criticisms of the party and the leader ever since the NPP government took office.

He contends that the party’s actions are more harmful, and a direct opposite of what they promised the Ghanaian people.

How Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah’s pursuit of a girlfriend led him to become a broadcaster

Ghanaian media personality and political show host, Okatakyie Kwame Afrifa-Mensah, recently recounted his journey to becoming a broadcaster, disclosing that he enrolled in a radio training center because that was the only sole condition of the acceptance of his proposal to a lady he was pursuing at that time.

According to him, he is not shy to tell the world that he is a womanizer, emphasizing that he started the habit at an early age.

He revealed that he started womanizing at the age of 13, adding that he would have been a holder of a Ph.D. degree if people were awarded degrees in womanizing.

Afrifa was however quick to add that he has left the habits of womanizing in the past as he is currently married. He explained by saying:

“I’m a handsome boy so women have been chasing me from my teenage days as early as 13 in Kumasi. I already had two or three girls. I started being a womanizer in my youthful days. If there were degrees in womanizing I should have a Ph.D. but now I’ve given up”.

The radio presenter detailing how he ventured into the media, said it happened because he proposed to a young woman in the bustling city of Tema who threw a challenge that would reshape his trajectory. As Mensah recounted, after the lady heard his voice, the woman agreed to his proposal under one condition; he must attend a radio school.

He asserted:

“I proposed to a girl in Tema and after hearing my voice she said she’ll only agree if I go to radio school. We spoke on Saturday and by Monday I was at Rabodef Academy owned by Tommy Annan-Forson”.

After completing the course, Okatakyie worked with GhOne TV in 2014 and later joined Radio XYZ before currently moving to Angel FM.
