Former Minister Optimistic Mahama’s Proposed Policies Would Reduce Brain Drain In Ghana

A former Minister of the State under the National Democratic Congress administration, Mr Akwasi Oppong-Fosu has stated that the vision and the policy proposals announced by the party’ flagbearer Former President John Dramani Mahama would drastically reduce the rising increase of brain drain in the country.

Addressing a group of Executives of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) Wing of the University of Ghana, the former Minister of State lamented the rising phenomena and attributed it to the lack of job opportunities in the country.

According to Mr Oppong-Fosu, the transformational agenda of former President John Dramani Mahama including the 24-hour Economy proposed initiative is a game-changer which is aimed at increasing productivity and ensuring job creation in the country.

Furthermore, Mr Oppong-Fosu indicated that the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama would engage all relevant stakeholders including students and their respective leaders across the country as part of his engagement to receive contributions and suggestions from Ghanaians.

He noted that Former President John Dramani Mahama would never ignore students who are the key stakeholders as well as important resources to propagate his transformational vision for progress and development for the country.

Moreover, the former Minister of State during the National Democratic Congress and John Dramani Mahama administration pledged to provide all the necessary support required for the effective and efficient conduct of the activities of the Tertiary Education Institution Network of the University of Ghana.

While commending the various student leaders for their dedication to public service, Mr Oppong-Fosu encouraged them to continue pursuing their dreams, emphasizing the importance of young voices in shaping policies and driving change in the country.

The former Minister of State also shared his insights, drawing from his experiences as a student leader and in public service and provided valuable advice on how the various executives of the Tertiary Institution Network at the University of Ghana could make a meaningful difference in their chosen fields.

In addition, Mr Oppong-Fosu emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and young leaders, recognizing the potential for transformative change when diverse voices come together.

Meanwhile, Mr. Paul Amoldago, President of the Tertiary Education Institution Network at the University of Ghana on behalf of his co-executives, expressed gratitude to the former Minister of State, Mr Oppong-Fosu for the opportunity to engage them on a critical conversation that will shape their future initiatives and program.

According to Mr Amoldago, the aspirations of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network at the University of Ghana focuses on key areas such as education, youth empowerment, job creation, and sustainable development.

He emphasized that various executives are very committed to articulating their desire to actively contribute to the progress and development of their respective communities.

“Our meeting with the former Minister is an active engagement with a constructive dialogue and gave us an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of governance and policymaking. With our aspirations aligned and a renewed sense of purpose, we resolved to embark on our journey to transform our aspirations into reality, contributing to the betterment of our communities and the nation as a whole”.

Mr Amoldago concluded stating that the respective executives of the Tertiary Education Network at the University of Ghana are very committed  to work towards achieving their goals, leveraging the knowledge gained from the discussion to make a tangible impact in their communities and recognized their enthusiasm, passion, and commitment to making a positive impact in the country.

The meeting also provided a platform for the Tertiary Education Network at the University of Ghana executives to express their appreciation for the former Minister’s continues support of TEIN activities
