Beyoncé and her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, are set to join forces as voice actors in the upcoming prequel “Mufasa: The Lion King.”

Disney confirmed the casting with the release of the film’s first trailer on Monday, April 29 (Eastern Time). Beyoncé will be reprising her role as Queen Nala, while Blue Ivy will voice the role of Kiara, the daughter of King Simba (Donald Glover) and Queen Nala, to mark her movie debut.

The character of Kiara last appeared in the 1998 animated film “The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride”. “Mufasa” is a prequel to the 2019 live-action movie “Lion King”, and it will be told through flashbacks as they take the viewers back to the origin story of the king of lions as Rafiki (John Kani) tells Kiara the story of her grandfather Mufasa (Aaron Pierre).

The director, Barry Jenkins stated that casting Beyoncé and her eldest daughter “will be impactful for both actors.”

“I thought there was something really lovely about having this mother and daughter get to play together and to work together. The two of them together, the few scenes that they have. You’ll just see; I think it’s going to be really impactful for the two of them.”

Jenkins underscored that filming for “Mufasa” took place long before the release of Beyoncé’s newest album, “Renaissance,” and her ongoing tour, making the project like a “time capsule” for the mother-daughter.

“We started making this film back in 2020 or 2021. I feel like Blue grew quite a bit over the course of that tour. The movie is kind of like this snapshot, this time capsule of a moment in their lives that I think is really beautiful. And it absolutely worked for the film.”

Blue Ivy made her stage debut as a featured dancer, joining her mother in her ninth concert world tour, “Renaissance.”

“Mufasa: The Lion King” will premiere in cinemas on December 20, 2024.

Within the cast, great actors will be in charge of voicing the main characters, such as Kelvin Harrison Jr., Kagiso Lediga, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and Donald Glover.

Beyoncé is one of the best-known musicians around the world. The American singer, whose career is outstanding, has managed to perfectly balance her professional success with her personal life.

In 2012, the singer became a mother when she gave birth to her first daughter, Blue Ivy.

At just 12 years old, Beyoncé’s daughter has been praised and even won awards in her first public appearances. Three years ago, Blue Ivy won the statuette for ‘Best Music Video’ at the Grammy Awards thanks to her participation in her mother’s music video for the song ‘Brown Skin Girl’. As a result, she became the third youngest winner in history.

Last year, Blue Ivy leaped to the stage with Beyoncé, her mother. The little girl, only 11 years old, demonstrated her versatility and charisma by dazzling the Parisian audience at a concert in front of 80,000 people in the middle of her (Beyoncé’s) ‘Renaissance World’ tour. For this year, the next step is the big screen.

Beyoncé To Perform At 2024 MTV VMAs

Beyoncé is going to return to the MTV Video Music Awards on September 10, in New York City to mark its 40th anniversary.

It’s a huge moment for the show, which hasn’t seen the “Cowboy Carter” star grace its stage since 2016 when she cleaned up with eight wins and performed a 16-minute Lemonade medley.

Even having earned VMA nominations in 2018, 2020, and 2021, the 42-year-old still didn’t grace the show with an appearance and skipped last year’s tour with “Renaissance”.

“Beyoncé is a huge get for the VMAs and will be a huge ratings draw. She is currently figuring out how her appearance will look and whether it will be one song or a tribute similar to her 2014 closing performance when she received the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

“As it’s such a big year, the ceremony wants to reclaim some of its prestige so reality TV stars from some of the more lowbrow shows and Tik Tok will have had a harder time gaining entry while artists like Dua Lipa, Muni Long, and Billie Eilish will be given priority treatment. They are also hoping to book Taylor Swift.”

It’s the first show that has been confirmed for Beyoncé since her latest record-breaking release, which saw her become the first black artist to top the UK chart with a country album.

Incredibly, the Queen of Country song, Dolly Parton, with a career spanning nearly 50 years, has never achieved a number-one single or album in the UK – but Beyoncé has now scored both at the same time, with “Cowboy Carter” and lead single “Texas Hold ‘Em”.

In 2023, Taylor was the big winner at last year’s VMAs, earning the top award of the night Video of the Year for Anti-Hero and still expected to go head-to-head with Beyoncé this year.

The VMAs will air in more than 150 countries and territories.
