Following doubts about Chef Smith’s certificate authenticity and the Guinness World Records’ denial of his claimed feat, Ghanaian actress and socialite Afia Schwarzenegger has expressed profound disappointment in him.

In a widely circulated email amidst the backlash, GWR clarified that it had no knowledge of Smith’s attempt and he had not submitted any evidence for verification before making his record claim.

GWR reaffirmed that the longest cooking marathon (individual) record is held by Alan Fisher of Ireland, lasting 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Matsue, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023.

Also, highlighting the contrast between Smith’s displayed GWR certificate and those issued to previous record holders, Afia Schwarzenegger described the situation as a significant embarrassment for the country.

“You have embarrassed Ghanaians because Guinness World Records stated they have no record of you or your claim. What communication did you receive from them that you have yet to disclose?

“What documentation did Guinness provide that you cannot produce to this day? What offense have we committed for you to disgrace the entire nation like this?”

Earlier during a press conference where Chef Smith announced his fake Guinness World Records certification, he was apprehended by authorities for fraud.

Responding to that development, Afia Schwarzenegger vowed to personally petition the Ghana Police Service to ensure he remains detained.

“Yesterday, you caused chaos throughout the country. I will personally petition the Ghana Police Service about you. They should keep you in custody.”

Also, Ghanaian con-artiste, Kwame Fordjour popularly known as Dr. UN, finally clarified that he’s not the one who awarded the fake GWR certificate to Chef Smith.

He maintained that he knew nothing about Chef Smith’s fake certificate uproar.

According to Dr UN, he has no kind of affiliation with GWR hence there’s no way he can just wake up to present an award to a supposed attemptee.

DR UN further urged Ghanaians to check his official social media pages for verification of news concerning him and his brand.

Ghanaian radio personality, Kwame Sefa Kayi expressed shock and disappointment over the recent controversy surrounding Chef Ebenezer Smith, also known as Chef Smith.

The chef falsely claimed to have received recognition from Guinness World Records as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Chef Smith announced on July 2, 2024, that he had set a new record with a cooking marathon, lasting 802 hours and 25 minutes.

This announcement was made during a press conference where he displayed a certificate, purportedly from Guinness World Records. However, it has since been revealed that the certificate is fake.

Kwame Sefa Kayi, addressing the issue voiced his confusion over the incident.

“Those who follow the Guinness Book of World Records Cook-A-Thon, I learned a man called Chef Smith had a press conference telling Ghanaians that he had won the cook-a-thon but that is not true.

“But I’m really pained about it, why would you do that? … This is unfortunate. This is sad.”

However, details of why Chef Smith was arrested, Amadia Shopping Centre, the sponsor of Chef Ebenezer Smith’s cook-a-thon addressed the controversy surrounding his arrest and Guinness World Record certification.

According to Amadia Shopping Centre’s management, they only learned of a press conference at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel where Chef Smith intended to disclose the outcome of his GWR attempt through a flyer, without notifying them, which they viewed as a breach of their three years contract.

Despite numerous attempts to contact Chef Smith, the sponsors received no response.

Consequently, they visited the press conference venue to verify the authenticity of the GWR certificate, citing their brand affiliation with Chef Smith.

They then called the police to halt the proceedings until Chef Smith could provide evidence of the certificate’s legitimacy, noting that they were initially denied entry.

The statement concluded that the police have now taken over the investigation.
