The Electoral Commission (EC) plays a crucial role in the democratic process, as it is responsible for ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections.

In the context of Ghana’s December 2024 elections, the EC’s performance will be pivotal in maintaining public trust, upholding credibility, and ensuring transparency.

Given the increasing political polarization and the heightened expectations from the electorate, it is more important than ever for the EC to conduct due diligence in executing its duties.

Accordingly, the opposition NDC has raised concerns about the due diligence conducted by the Electoral Commission before appointing YASARKO to print election materials.

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of Elections and IT questioned the transparency of the process and emphasized the party’s commitment to monitoring it closely.

As such, he noted that the party’s vigilant agents and supervisors are actively overseeing the printing of ballot papers through the “EagleEyes” project, ensuring that the process adheres to the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.

“Because of their  EagleEyes, one of the companies contracted by the Electoral Commission to print ballot materials must lose their contract. Since printing commenced, YASARKO printing company has not been printing. Excuses upon excuses…

“What due diligence did the Electoral Commission conduct before appointing YASARKO to print?”

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah

Omane Boamah further indicated that the EC’s lack of due diligence Total waste of our resources as we keep deploying NDC Agents and Supervisors three times a day on a continuous and sustained 24-hour cycle.

Omane Boamah further criticized the Electoral Commission’s lack of due diligence, describing it as a total waste of resources.

He pointed out that the NDC is forced to deploy its agents and supervisors three times a day on a continuous 24-hour cycle.

According to him, this constant monitoring is straining the party’s resources as they work to ensure transparency and accountability in the printing of election materials.

Omane Boamah issued a stern warning, stating that if any company, including the Electoral Commission, believes they secured the printing contract not based on their current capacity and competence but through dubious means—whether by outsourcing the job or attempting to smuggle externally printed ballots into the system—such actors are gravely mistaken.

He emphasized that any attempts to manipulate the process will not go unnoticed and will be met with serious consequences.

NDC Vigilance Forces Companies to Cut Excess Ballot Papers

Furthermore, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah noted that due to the vigilance of the NDC’s agents and supervisors under the “EagleEyes” initiative, companies printing more ballot papers than permitted have been compelled to reduce their excess.

He asserted that this close monitoring has prevented the printing of unnecessary “overs,” ensuring greater accountability in the process.

“They must be joking because our  EagleEyes team does not sleep! Our Agents and  Supervisors Richard Jakpa (the former Army Officer who exposed Godfred Dame, the Attorney General, in the Ambulance trial), Lawyer Natongmah, Atamudzi, Malik, and their other gallant colleagues among others (invisible) are doing the Lord’s work…”

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah

The NDC stalwart emphasized that there is a firm and irrevocable agreement between the printing companies and the NDC’s agents and supervisors.

According to him, this agreement ensures that every excess ballot paper will be individually counted and accounted for before being shredded.

As such, Omane Boamah urged the NDC EagleEyes agents and supervisors to persist in their noble struggle to unseat the irredeemably corrupt and incompetent Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.

Their unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability, he noted, is essential in this critical effort for the future of the nation.

Omane Boamah also urged voters to choose John Dramani Mahama to create well-paying jobs through the 24-hour economy initiative. “Vote John Mahama to recover all looted funds through Operation Recover All Loot (O.R.A.L)”.
