Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has announced that the policy think tank will once again evaluate the feasibility of political party manifestos, an initiative it has consistently undertaken since 2008.
Through this assessment, IMANI scrutinizes each manifesto’s goals, projected outcomes, and alignment with national resources and priorities.
The organization gained international recognition for this work in 2017, praised for providing Ghanaian voters with objective, in-depth analyses of party pledges.
IMANI’s ongoing efforts aim to ensure that campaign promises are realistic and achievable, offering citizens a reliable resource to gauge the potential impact of political agendas on national development.
“As Ghana goes to the polls on December 7, Ghanaians are determined to have political campaigns issue-based.
“Unrealistic campaign promises are a staple in elections across the world, and nowhere has that been truer than in Ghana – until 2016 when IMANI forced the country’s political parties to justify many of their unrealistic plans to the public”.

Cudjoe further emphasized that IMANIFesto, IMANI’s manifesto feasibility test, empowers Ghanaians to hold their leaders accountable for campaign promises.
By highlighting this responsibility, IMANI aims to foster a more informed and engaged electorate, strengthening democratic governance.
According to him, IMANI’s three-pronged evaluation process critically examines each manifesto pledge for financial feasibility, gauging whether the proposed policies align with the nation’s budgetary constraints and resources.
Franklin Cudjo indicated that the assessment also analyzes each policy’s potential to stimulate private sector growth, considering how effectively a proposed initiative would encourage investment, innovation, and job creation in Ghana’s economy.
He stated that the review covers the broader policy implications, assessing the compatibility of each promise with existing laws and national development goals.
According to Cudjoe, this rigorous analysis culminates in a detailed report on the manifestos of major political parties, including the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the Movement for Change.
The IMANIFesto report serves as a valuable tool for voters and policymakers alike, offering a fact-based perspective on campaign promises and a benchmark for post-election accountability.
Through this work, IMANI Africa strives to equip the public with a clearer understanding of the commitments being made and their potential to shape the nation’s future.
IMANI to Evaluate Political Manifestos for Sustainable Solutions
Furthermore, Franklin Cudjoe elaborated that the selection of the NDC, NPP, and MFC for IMANI’s manifesto assessment is grounded in their performance on the IMANI Public Understanding and Literacy for Sentiment and Election (PULSE) analysis tool.
This tool evaluates the public appeal and understanding of each party’s policies, ensuring that IMANI’s focus remains on parties with significant influence and public support.
Cudjoe added that IMANI Africa will delve into critical policy areas within these manifestos, examining their potential impact on national development.
According to him, in cases where existing proposals could be enhanced, IMANI will provide alternative policy recommendations to guide more sustainable and effective solutions.
This comprehensive analysis aims to equip both the public and policymakers with insights that encourage accountability and informed decision-making.
“[ We will assess] the Economy: Assessing proposed economic policies and their potential impact on Ghana’s growth and development; Governance: Evaluating commitments to governance reforms, transparency, and accountability.
“Energy and Infrastructure: Analyzing the feasibility of energy policies and infrastructure development plans; Education and Social Services: Reviewing plans for improving education and social services, and their alignment with the needs of Ghanaians”.

Accordingly, Franklin Cudjoe encouraged the public to actively participate in the upcoming event, highlighting that their involvement is essential for fostering an informed and inclusive discussion.
