Sista Afia, a Ghanaian Afro-pop star, has revealed that she plans to return to her nursing career at the age of 40, even as she continues to make waves in the music industry.

The singer, who was a registered nurse in the UK before pursuing music full-time, shared her future aspirations.

Currently focused on her music career, Sista Afia explained that her nursing profession is on hold but remains a part of her long-term plans.

“Right now, I’m a full-time musician, and nursing is on hold. When I get to the age of 40, I’ll go back to nursing.”

Adding a touch of humor, she joked, “It’s been a while since I stopped school; I’ve even forgotten how to spell ‘Chloroquine.’”

Known for chart-topping hits like “Jeje” and “Slay Queen,” Sista Afia has become one of Ghana’s most prominent voices in the Afro-pop genre.

However, her roots in healthcare remain close to her heart. She studied nursing at the Reverend John Teye Memorial Institute in Ghana before moving to the UK to further her education.

In 2015, she returned to Ghana to chase her musical dreams, leaving her nursing career behind for now.

Sista Afia’s revelation highlights her versatility and determination to balance her passions.

While music is her primary focus, her openness to returning to nursing later in life reflects her commitment to making a meaningful impact in multiple fields.

Fans of the singer can expect more hits in the coming years, but they may also see her swapping the stage for scrubs in the future.

Sista Afia publicly expressed her deep gratitude to her colleague, Amerado, for his immense support throughout her career.

The singer, whose real name is Francisca Gawugah Duncan-Williams, shared how Amerado played a pivotal role in her professional journey, especially during times when she felt like giving up.

The artist behind the hit track ‘Jeje’  reflected on the challenges she has faced in her career and how Amerado has been a constant source of motivation.

She acknowledged that Amerado has always been there to offer guidance and encouragement, particularly when things weren’t going well.

“I don’t joke with Amerado because he’s one person who motivated and pushed me when I felt like giving up. He’s been incredibly helpful, and I’m so grateful for everything he’s done for me.”

Sista Afia went on to praise Amerado’s work ethic, noting that the rapper understands the job and consistently maintains high standards.

The two have collaborated on several songs, a testament to their strong professional relationship. “We have quite a number of songs together because he understands the craft, and his work ethic is on point,” she added.

Sista Afia also took the opportunity to promote her latest single with Ameardo, “Krekete Soja,” and shared that she is returning to her roots in Highlife music. Sista Afia proudly declared, “I am a Highlife queen; I live and breathe Highlife.”

With her new release, she is eager to explore more Highlife music and continue making an impact in the genre she is passionate about.

Moreover, Sista Afia clarified her recent social media post in which she expressed disappointment over the lack of support from her colleagues in the music industry.

The crooner made it clear that she will no longer offer the same level of support to her fellow artists as she once did.

She revealed that after releasing her new song, “Krekete Soja,” she expected some of her close colleagues to promote it on their social media platforms. However, she was disheartened to find that they had not supported her in return.
