Ballers Convention

Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has thrilled his dedicated Shatta Movement (SM) fans with the announcement of a series of high-energy live performances scheduled for early and mid-September 2026.

In a post shared on his official X account on Wednesday evening, the artiste simply captioned “SM Fans” alongside three promotional posters detailing the upcoming events, generating significant excitement across social media.

The first of the shows is set for Friday, September 4, at Lienda Ville Hostel near the KNUST-Afrifa Junction. Titled “A Storm is Coming to Lienda,” the event is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Promotional materials feature the dancehall king in his signature style, signalling an intimate yet energetic night for students and fans in the Kumasi area.

The following evening, Saturday, September 5, Shatta Wale will headline the Ballers Convention at P2 Lounge, located in the basement car park of Kumasi City Mall. The show starts at 8 p.m. and will feature a lineup of DJs and MCs including Mr Berry, Kobby Wave, Kobbi Mani, DJ Bongo, DJ Manucho, DJ Coleda, DJ Maxido, DJ Responsible and DJ Kbow.

Ticket information and table reservation contacts have been provided on the flyer, positioning the night as a premium experience for fans in the Ashanti Region.

The biggest of the announced dates is the Nkrumahfest 2026 Grand Musical Concert on Saturday, September 20, at Nkroful (Nass Park) in the Western Region. Beginning at 7 p.m., the concert forms part of the broader NkrumahFest celebrations honouring Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, on the occasion of his 117th birth anniversary. Shatta Wale will share the stage with fellow Ghanaian stars Kofi Kinaata, Empress Gifty, Freddie Mieway and the Sankofa Band.

The festival itself runs as a week-long series of activities from September 14 to 21 under the theme celebrating Nkrumah’s enduring legacy and the call for African unity.

NkrumahFest was officially launched at the end of July 2026 at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra. Organisers described it as a “Journey to Nkroful,” Nkrumah’s birthplace, aimed at reigniting national consciousness around freedom, justice, self-determination and Pan-Africanism.

The inclusion of a major musical concert featuring top contemporary Ghanaian artistes is expected to draw large crowds and boost tourism and local economic activity in the Ellembelle District.

Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has maintained a strong connection with his fan base known as the Shatta Movement. The artiste has consistently used social media to keep supporters informed about his activities, both locally and internationally.

These September dates come after a challenging period earlier in August when his planned ShattaFest UK event in London was cancelled by police on safety grounds. The Ghanaian shows appear to mark a return to home soil for focused live performances.

The dancehall artiste has built a career spanning more than two decades, rising from the Ghanaian music scene to become one of the most recognisable African dancehall voices. Hits such as “Dancehall King” and subsequent releases have cemented his status, while his energetic stage presence and large-scale events have made him a consistent draw for live audiences.

Public Reaction

Fans have responded positively to the new announcements, with many expressing anticipation for the Kumasi dates and the Nkroful concert in particular.

For the Lienda and P2 Lounge shows, organisers have provided specific contact numbers for tickets and table reservations. The Nkrumahfest concert poster includes sponsorship and enquiry contacts, reflecting the scale of the production planned for the Western Region venue.

Media partners listed on the Nkrumahfest flyer include several radio stations and television outlets, indicating broad promotional support.

These performances form part of a busy period for Shatta Wale. In addition to the September gigs, he has previously confirmed plans for a second edition of Shatta Fest in Ghana later in October.

The artiste has also been linked to other engagements, including interactions with tertiary institutions on topics related to music marketing and the entertainment business.

As the dates approach, SM fans are expected to mobilise in large numbers. The combination of campus-oriented shows in Kumasi and a major cultural-musical event in Nkroful offers variety for different segments of his audience.

The Nkroful concert, in particular, places contemporary Ghanaian music within a broader national commemorative framework, linking popular entertainment with the historical legacy of one of Africa’s most influential leaders.

Shatta Wale’s announcement has already generated thousands of likes and hundreds of reposts within hours of being shared. Supporters have taken to social media to discuss logistics, potential setlists and travel plans to the various venues.

For many in the Shatta Movement, the coming weeks represent another opportunity to experience the artiste’s high-octane live shows that have become a hallmark of his brand.

With the posters now circulating widely, attention turns to ticket sales and further details that may be released in the coming days.

As September unfolds, Shatta Wale appears set to deliver a series of memorable nights for his fans across Ghana, beginning in Kumasi and culminating in a significant performance at Nkroful as part of NkrumahFest 2026.
