Diana Hamilton

Ghanaian Gospel musician, Diana Hamilton has revealed that reliance on faith and life lessons over the years is what goes into her songwriting process.

She explained that she doesn’t intentionally sit down to write a song daily but constantly prays for God to provide a message, a song, and the right people to bring the song to life.

According to her, she depends on her voice, mind, and the collaborative efforts of others.

Diana Hamilton emphasized the importance of divine intervention in her creative process.

“But if God brings me the right people my way, whatever we have in our vision, in our minds we are able to bring it to finishing, and that’s what we pray to God for.”

Reflecting on her spiritual journey, Hamilton shared, “I think I have walked with God to a point where I am not fully there, but I know he is God.”

Diana Hamilton added that time has taught her that even in the most difficult times, she is nearing the finish line, trusting in God’s promise not to burden her beyond her capacity.

She stated that time taught her patience, to take things one at a time, not to rush, and to wait so it doesn’t get overwhelming and it comes to her one at a time.

Diana Hamilton further touched on balancing her career with personal life events such as marriage and motherhood, noting that she had to adjust to marriage and singing, and then the kids came in, so when it all came together, she was able to manage all of that.

The 2021 VGMA Artiste of the Year added that she prays for God to make her a jack of all trades and master of all, trusting God to help her succeed in those areas.

The renowned Ghanaian gospel artist shared the deep personal connection she has with every song she creates.

Diana Hamilton revealed that each of her songs is inspired by personal experiences or observations.

“Every song is personal. I know people would say, ‘Oh, you say that because you don’t want to offend anybody who loves this particular song or that particular song.’ But every song is personal because every song was birthed either out of a personal experience or something I’ve witnessed.”

She acknowledged that this personal connection makes it difficult for her to choose a favorite song. “I have an attachment to every song in different ways, so it’s difficult to pinpoint and say this particular one is my favorite,” she explained.

However, Diana Hamilton expressed her affection for her latest release, “Perfect God, He Loves Me.” “I love it, I love it,” she said with a smile.

She highlighted the special place her newest song holds in her heart. “My last baby is always my favorite,” she added,

Throughout her music career, Diana Hamilton seeks to inspire and uplift her listeners with sincere songwriting, making a significant impact on the gospel music scene.

Moreover, the musician called on Ghanaians to offer prayers and support for embattled musician Okomfour Kwadee, following the circulation of distressing videos of him last week.

She cautioned against the glorification of drug use, emphasizing its dangers, especially among creatives. Diana also stressed that musicians do not need drugs to perform at their best.

The ‘Perfect God’ singer lamented the growing normalization of substances such as marijuana, commonly known as “wee,” which, according to her, has been infused into products like toffees, chewing gum, and balloons.

Diana Hamilton’s call for prayers and collective support adds to the growing voices advocating for help for the ailing music star.
